Job Description

We are looking for an experienced IT Operations Manager to join our team and lead our IT support, service desk and cloud infrastructure operations.

Keeping systems strong so our teams deliver better care

As our IT Operations Manager, you will lead and continuously improve the performance of our service desk and IT support team. Your role ensures every interaction delivers high-quality, customer-focused technical support. From end-user and desktop services to applications and infrastructure, you’ll be at the heart of keeping our systems running smoothly, overseeing the daily operations of our contact centre digital platforms.

How you’ll help us care smarter

Inspire and Empower a High-Performing Team: Lead a talented team to deliver high-quality service and secure, digital platforms that support critical health and social services. You’ll fostering a culture of excellence through clear direction, mentoring, and meaningful development opportunities. 

Champion Operational Excellence in Digital Services: Lead daily operations of contact centre digital platforms, ensuring they’re secure, reliable, scalable, and cost-effective. You’ll drive continuous improvement through smart monitoring and proactive problem solving.  

Be the Bridge Between People and Platforms: Collaborate closely with Service Directors, Contact Centre leaders, and Support Services teams. You’ll keep stakeholders informed, engaged and aligned while also building strong partnerships with key technology suppliers.

Drive Smart Commercial and Vendor Strategy: Own the commercial side of platform operations, from licensing and compliance to budgeting and vendor management. You’ll identify opportunities for cost savings and ensure we’re getting the best value from our technology investments.

Ōu wheako ōu mātauranga hoki | Qualifications and experience

  • Ideally holds a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field   
  • ​​5+ years IT support and engineering experience across a range of services and disciplines  
  • ​Experience managing hybrid environments (on-premise and Microsoft Azure)  
  • ​Familiarity with security frameworks such as NZISM, NIST and ISO 27001 
  • ​Familiarity with cybersecurity and compliance best practices. 
  • ​Demonstrated experience with ITSM frameworks (e.g. ITIL certification)​

  • ​Security mindset in all aspects of your work 
  • ​Ability to balance multiple priorities and communicate confidently 
  • ​Strong desire to share knowledge and build capabilities in team members 
  • ​Detail oriented, but also pragmatic and able to see the bigger picture 
  • ​Telephony technologies in a Contact Centre environment, such as CXone 
  • ​Design, support, and administration of Microsoft 365 suite of services, particularly Microsoft Teams and Teams Voice, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business, and the administration of Windows 10/11 
  • ​Thorough Microsoft Azure experience across services such as AzureAD, InTune, Autopilot, Azure Virtual Desktop, ExpressRoute, B2B and B2C, IaaS, Power Platform, and other as-a-Service technologies 
  • ​Strong network capability across firewalls, switches, routers, DNS, VPN, and SDWAN 
  • ​Technical documentation skills, both in process mapping and architecture design documents, and also simplified knowledge base articles for skills transfer​ 
  • Whakarongorau Aotearoa acknowledges Mana Māori and mātauranga Māori as a professional skill set
