Job Description

General Summary Of Duties:

Safely assist the bartender/cocktail server in providing beverage service by maintaining adequate supply of garnish, glass, ice, liquor, etc. at assigned work station.

Role and Responsibilities: (Includes but is not limited to the following)

Retrieve orders from storeroom. 
Visually check beverage stock received against written requisition with storeroom personnel, to ensure order is accurate. 
Upon delivery to the bar, recheck items with bartender for completeness.
Cut, slice and peel perishable garnishes and fruits, mixes and pours juices in sufficient amounts according to projected business. Store back-up supplies needing refrigeration in prescribed containers for later use.
Check and assist bartender in maintaining adequate amounts of supplies, i.e., stir sticks, napkins, matches, etc., for work station.
Scoop ice from ice bins, transport to service areas and replenish ice containers for usage. 
Wash/stock glasses.
Box and save empty liquor bottles as they accumulate for later returns and requisitions. 
Transport, tap, replace and perform routine maintenance requirements on heavy beer kegs. 
Obtain change for bartenders from dispatch cage on request.

Qualifications

Performance Requirements: (Knowledge, skills and abilities)
Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language and utilize math skills for beverage requisitions and inventories.
Ability to understand verbal English sufficient to understand verbal job requests from supervisor, bartenders, cocktail servers, and guests.
Communicate with supervisor throughout the shift.
Basic mathematical skills necessary to obtain/make change from Dispatch Cage and understand portion sizes.
Sufficient manual dexterity of hand in order to use shovel, knives, corkscrew and glasses.
Ability to operate equipment including ice shovel, blenders, glass washer, and liquor, soda, and juice guns.
Perform all assigned side work to include replenishing/restocking workstation with supplies.
Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language in case of emergency situations and to read safety and/or caution notices.
Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to comprehend product labeling instructions to enable the safe application of products and processes.
Ability to organize/prioritize work, meet deadlines and work with minimal supervision and multiple interruptions.
Ability to remain alert throughout the duration of the shift and remain calm during emergency situations.
Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language clearly to ascertain and document important information, to follow written and/or verbal instructions.  Ability to relate to all levels of management, guest and employees in verbal/written form.
Check station before, during and after shift for proper set-up and cleanliness.
Good working knowledge of accepted standards of sanitation.
Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to complete job requirements and communicate with other employees.
Social skills as demonstrated by the ability to deal with internal/external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to diffuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve problems and concerns.
Social skills as demonstrated by the ability to listen and respond to employee or management inquiries/concerns using a positive, clear speaking voice, answering questions and/or offering assistance giving accurate information regarding plans, policy or procedures within guidelines.
Respond to guest inquiries.  Provide guest satisfaction through assistance, direction and information within hotel guidelines.
Ability to maintain attendance in conformance with standards.
Ability to maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance.
