Job Description

Responsible to assist in overseeing the cabinet shop making, building, repairing and installation for all buildings, OPC areas and corporate assets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assistant manager oversees the daily operation of the millwork shop team members assuring jobs are fabricated according to shop’s standards of quality and work is progressing towards completion within the budgeted hours.
  • Assists with the implementation of processes and procedures provided by the Millwork Shop Manager regarding the fabrication and installation of cabinets, millwork, and custom elements for corporate buildings, OPC buildings and corporate assets.
  • Must be able to explain in detail to team members the proper fabrication process to achieve expected quality and production needs.
  • Has the ability and understanding that added scopes and changes occur and mindfully shifts projects or team members around as needed.
  • Studies and understands blueprints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to dimensions, the type of material required (such as plywood, rough lumber), and hardware needed for fabrication.
  • Prepares cut lists for the team to maintain accuracy and production time.
  • Monitors and maintains inventory levels of paint/fabrication shop consumables and installation consumables within vehicles.
  • Maintains the shops quality assurance program.
  • Has a clear understanding of the operation and safety of all shop tools and assures all maintenance and training is provided as needed.
  • Maintains safety training and development for the team weekly.
  • Follows industry and company safety procedures and practices.
  • Is passionate about personal leadership development and growth.
  • Teaches and develops team members towards achieving their full potential.
  • Must possess unique skills which foster cooperative working relationships while promoting a positive image of the department to outside personnel.
  • Must comply with all CFI policies and procedures.
  • Must represent CFI in a professional manner through appearance, dress and professional behavior at all times, as dictated in the Team Member’s Handbook.
  • Must be able to work extended hours and weekends when a project dictates a need.
  • Other duties as assigned by Corporate Facilities leadership.
  • Travel may be occasionally required as dictated by business needs

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervises team members in the Cabinet Shop Department. Is responsible for the direction, coordination, and evaluation of team members in assigned areas. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training team members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining team members; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

  • At least two years shop management and development experience.
  • Must have experience in in more than one area of expertise to be considered i.e., woodworking such as frame to finish, cabinets, cabinet doors, interior doors, themed environments, and furniture. Must have experience.

Education and/or Experience

Three-to-five-year certificate from college or technical school; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:

  • Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Write simple correspondence.
  • Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Apply concepts such as percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Reasoning Abilities:
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
  • Deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Physical Demands:

  • Occasionally required to walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk or hear, and taste or smell.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

  • Regularly exposed to extreme heat, cold, and vibration.
  • Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, and risk of radiation.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
