Job Description

The Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst works collaboratively with end users to develop reporting systems that provide accessible information for decision-making. The BI Developer uses system data to solve organizational problems through reports, analysis, and data visualization. The BI Developer will provide enterprise-wide data warehouse expertise emphasizing data design, access, usage, security, and quality of information assets.

Duties

  • Design, build, deliver and maintain world-class reporting for all areas of the business using BI tools
  • Participates in business and executive meetings to gather requirements and make recommendations regarding reporting/BI solutions.
  • Translate business needs into high-level technical specifications and design.
  • Developing a deep understanding of the various business processes, data sets, and BI deliverables
  • Use knowledge of the specific data available, forecasting/analysis methods, and visualization capabilities to enhance requirements and provide insightful suggestions to business stakeholders.
  • Prep, ingest, cleanse, and maintain data in the data sources for efficient delivery to BI presentation tools.
  • Assists in the daily support of the end-user ability to utilize the reporting platform effectively and efficiently.

Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of BI and data warehouse concepts, tools, and terminology
  • Experience building complex reports in Tableau
  • Experience with data wrangling tools such as Altand eryx, SSIS
  • Experience with analytical programming languages such as SQL, PL SQL, Python, Shell Scripts
  • Proficiency with O365 Applications, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • A detail-oriented person who is passionate about quality and enthusiastic about new technology

Education and/or Experience

Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school AND two years related experience or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills/Knowledge

  • Understanding of Statistical Modeling and hypothesis testing
  • Advance Tableau Visualizations and Level of Detail Calculations
  • Alteryx or Python cross-database joins
  • Excel Pivot tables
  • PL-SQL and Transact-SQL Analytic Functions
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commission, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

 Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to adapt to change with processes and procedures.
