Job Description

Westgate Resorts is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant II that will develop, interpret, and summarize financial data to structure sophisticated reports and analysis that communicates financial results of the organization. This will includes 26 vacation ownership/hotel resorts, with corresponding food & beverage/retail outlets and management company/overhead support.

Responsibilities

  • Timely and accurate recording of all advanced entries in accordance with the corporate closing schedule.
  • Review and analyze financial results for assigned areas in support of month end close
  • Communicate financial results and variance analysis to Management as assigned
  • Timely and accurate review of balance sheet reconciliations and month end schedules.
  • Approve resolution relating to reconciling items
  • Review external audit work papers
  • Approve budgets for Senior management
  • Approve staff entries
  • Identify and develop process improvements
  • Financial reporting writing
  • General understanding of GAAP principles
  • Carry out any reasonable request by management that employee is capable of performing

Qualifications

  • Must have a four-year degree in Accounting or Finance (Accounting strongly preferred) and a minimum of eight year's relative experience in a month end close general ledger environment
  • Ability to work overtime to assist Financial reporting department deadlines
  • Strong knowledge of various accounting software
  • Advanced skills in Excel (ability to create pivot tables and formulas in spreadsheets), Word, Outlook
  • Strong organizational skills, deadline oriented
  • Detail oriented, proficient in time management, able to multi task and ability to prioritize work load
  • Excellent communication skills written and oral
  • Ability to work independently and in a group environment (team player)
  • Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to make sound judgments and solve problems
  • Ability to take initiative and effectively adapt to changes
  • Strong analytical skills
