Job Description

The Director leads, coordinates, and supports the resort operations and facilities teams by providing expertise in engineering duties as directed by the VP of Resorts Engineering and corporate leadership. 

As an Engineering National Director, you will:

  • The Director works closely with and supports the VP of Resorts Engineering to align engineering operations and resources with the Westgate Resorts vision and strategic goals. 
  • Responsible for auditing, inspecting, use of HOTSOS, implementing, assisting in setup, and managing the mechanical side of maintenance programs for multiple Westgate properties. 
  • The Director ensures the setup and compliance of buildings and assets and that they are maintained in good condition through inspections, property visits, and on-site support. 
  • The position will have to travel to facilities in different states across the US to provide support to operations as necessary. 
  • The position works and interacts closely with engineering team members, contractors, and vendors to define scopes of work, and contracts and ensure engineering compliance.
  • The position will have project management participation in a variety of disciplines; life safety, MEP, renovations, structural, architectural, and other operational engineering tasks that arise through findings or assignments

Technical skills required for the position include: 

  • Proficient in HOTSOS & Microsoft Office programs – Daily & Expert use of Excel 
  • Expert in Resort Engineering; General Maintenance, Trades, Grounds, Pools, and other roles 
  • Expert knowledge of building infrastructure and utility systems 
  • Expert in maintenance and repair best practices in multiple disciplines 
  • Expert understanding of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems 
  • Expert in contractor management 
  • Expert in development and management of Preventive Maintenance Plans 
  • Expert in managing and supporting custodial duties 
  • Expert in reading and interpreting blueprints, maintenance manuals and technical reports 
  • Proficient in Life Safety Code, OSHA, and EPA compliance 

Requirements

  • 10+ years Engineering Management in Operations experience; hotels, resorts, time shares. 
  • 5+ years in Corporate Engineering or a multi-site role supporting a portfolio of properties 
  • Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university; and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (Preferably in an Engineering, Construction Management or trades-related field) 
  • Preferably licensed or certified as a GC, Engineer, or other related to the 
  • Valid state Driver’s License
  • At least 3 years of leadership experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills with the ability to interact with all levels of team members and guests in an attentive and service-oriented manner
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in outdoor weather conditions
