Job Description

A Senior Design Manager at Westgate Resorts contributes to Westgate Resorts success by supporting design process to create outstanding timeshare and resorts’ amenities designs that uphold the Westgate Customer Experience. Candidates must possess 7-10 years of proven professional success in interior or architectural design and design management. This candidate must possess leadership and management qualities. The Senior Design Manager will be responsible for leading a team of individuals across multi-disciplinary platforms both internal and external. We’re seeking an individual that has a structured sense of detail in design and design management while exuding leadership and mentorship characteristics. Their design acumen must be strong, creative, innovative, and reflective of the values and brand of Westgate Resorts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Creatively design projects from concept through construction documentation.
  • Present both verbally and graphically clear and concise design solutions both in drawings and in the field.
  • Manage and provide clear and concise direction of a design project to uphold the highest quality of design while keeping within budget and schedule constraints.
  • Engage directly with directors and senior leadership to develop and execute design contracts, scheduling and design project needs for all team members and associated tasks.
  • Effectively and efficiently manage team member hours and deliverables by setting schedules that align with cross-functional teams. Communicates dates to project team and meets all established deadlines. Conducts site visits as needed.
  • Manages design, provides clear, effective, and timely communication of design direction and changes to internal designers and external consultants. Identifies exceptions, proposes, and implements design solutions.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers throughout all design phases through construction completion to ensure approved design, schedule, budget are being fulfilled.
  • Develops design documentation to support design intent including schematic drawings and finish palettes.
  • Manages the production of construction documents by internal and external designers and consultants. Responsible for the integrity and quality of the construction documents inclusive of design intent, detailing, code requirements, scheduling, and MEPs.
  • Participates in QAQC and design reviews with Director of Design & Architecture and cross-functional teams.
  • Manage executive leadership expectations, team communication and consultant coordination.
  • Mentor’s designers and promotes team collaboration.
  • Trains all designers to understand business development and budget as it pertains to design.
  • Contribute to team culture with Westgate core values in mind.
  • Must comply with all CFI policies and procedures.
  • Must represent Westgate Resorts in a professional manner through appearance, dress, and professional behavior at all times, as dictated in the Associate's Handbook.
  • Must work diligently to gain knowledge and experience to execute the role to its full potential.
  • Other duties as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • Hospitality, Retail/F&B, Entertainment, Timeshare and/or Residential Professional Design Experience
  • Proven Design Management experience
  • Proven experience in all phases of design from Schematic to Construction Documentation
  • Led teams across multi-disciplinary internal and external individuals
  • FFE and/or Architectural Specification experience

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Interior Design and/or Architecture from accredited program.
  • U.S. Registered/Licensed Interior Design and/or Architect preferred but not required
  • Working towards NCIDQ and/or NCARB licensing
  • Legally able to work in the United States

Skills/Knowledge:

  • BIM/Revit professional experience required (7-10 years)
  • AutoCAD professional experience required (7-10 years)
  • 3D/Visualization professional experience required (7-10 years)
  • Adobe software including but not limited to: Photoshop, Indesign, and Illustrator (7-10 years)
  • MS Projects or similar (3-5 years)
  • Microsoft Office
  • Outstanding time, budget, and financial management
  • Outstanding graphic design, presentation, verbal, and written skills to effectively communicate design ideas.
  • Outstanding knowledge of furniture, finishes, materials, color selections, and professional specifications.
  • Outstanding technical knowledge of relevant building codes and accessibility requirements
  • Outstanding in Construction Documentation and Administration
  • Outstanding in executing Request For Proposals, Request For Qualifications, and Request For Contracts
  • Hand Drafting/sketching
