Job Description

The Senior Instructional Design Manager implements and supports key aspects of Westgate’s virtual training strategy, with a particular focus on the analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation, and management of Westgate’s asynchronous learning portfolio. This position will collaborate with internal and external subject matter experts to identify and address learning needs through the development of high-quality virtual learning experiences. This role also contributes to Westgate’s broader learning strategy by contributing design and adult-learning expertise, developing, and implementing quality assurance processes, and defining and driving measures of success.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, and other duties may be assigned.

  • Apply instructional design principles to develop learning solutions that increase knowledge, enhance skills and change behavior using an array of modalities, and technology solutions (including Articulate Storyline 360)
  • Manage and monitor portfolio of asynchronous courses within LMS; conduct ongoing content audit process; inform and implement improvements to existing courses to maintain best practices in instructional design
  • Manage a team in developing competency-based courses and learning materials that apply adult learning theory and design principles (i.e., ADDIE, SAM, experiential learning) to achieve knowledge transfer and understanding of key concepts.
  • Support the team, stakeholders, and subject matter experts in the content development process, including analyzing training needs, developing learning objectives, and determining appropriate delivery methods.
  • Plans quality assurance procedures and conducts quality analyses with the goal of continuous improvement for all training-related deliverables.
  • Keeps pace with eLearning and classroom trends to ensure learning environments are relevant and attractive to learners.

Qualifications

Proven experience in implementing instructional design best practices, including experiential learning activities, following evidence-based methodologies and principles such as Kirkpatrick’s levels of evaluation, learner-centered approach, and the Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning (CTML)

  • Advanced knowledge in theories of motivation and techniques used to improve learner engagement
  • Experienced in developing and delivering differentiated instruction
  • Experienced in utilizing effective needs assessment, learner analysis, and subordinate skills analysis.
  • Proven experience in designing training materials in a corporate setting
  • Advanced knowledge of training technologies such as mobile apps, interactive polling websites, and games
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Three years of experience as an Instructional Designer

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITIES

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
