Job Description

As the Jr. Sous Chef, you will actively support the operation of Banquets and other F&B outlets, providing functional assistance and direction.
The Jr. Sous Chef coordinates with other Food & Beverage department heads, in absence of Executive Sous Chef or Executive Chef.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assists with the design and development of the menu and all items.
  • Responds to guest inquires and concerns in a professional and urgent manner and escalates to management if necessary.
  • Maintains current and accurate standards in accordance to all established procedures with menu item preparation, budgeting, inventory, purchasing, ordering, receiving, stocking, safety and security, and audits.
  • Supervise the day to day functions of the banquet Kitchen and other outlets.
  • Assists with interviewing, hiring, training all team members and completing performance appraisals and disciplining team members when necessary following all established procedures.
  • ·Directs and observes team members in preparing, portioning and garnishing food items to ensure standards are met and assists with cooking and carving meats and preparing dishes during rush periods.
  • Set and train, and promote department Standards of Excellence.
  • Assists with other duties as necessary to ensure a smooth and efficient operation.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience 

  • High School Diploma or a minimum of two years of related experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills with the ability to interact with all levels of team members and guests.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
  • Intermediate proficiency of Microsoft Office programs and basic computer skills.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to work well in a team dynamic.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, talk, and hear. In addition, the employee is occasionally required to taste and smell. The team member frequently is required to climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
