Job Description

Responsible for supervising the maintenance, operation, and repairs of Westgate automotive fleet and golf carts. Maintaining detailed records of vehicle servicing inspection and scheduling regular vehicle maintenance to ensure operational efficiency among other duties. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervises the maintenance, operations and repairs of the fleet which includes automobiles, trucks, machinery, construction equipment, buses, golf carts.
  • Provides budget recommendations for fleet operations.
  • Deals with authorized dealers, contractors, vendors to secure equipment and vehicles.
  • Develops long range plans to eliminate and purchase equipment and vehicles for the fleet.
  • Maintains warranties, licenses, and registrations for all vehicles.
  • Arranges for repair work according to warranty guidelines.
  • Develops and implements a preventative maintenance program for entire fleet.
  • Recommends appropriate methods and repairs to recondition the fleet.
  • Instructs fleet employees in repair work as needed.
  • Reviews time and motion records of fleet employees to determine downtime for maintenance and repairs of vehicles.
  • Investigates complaints received on vehicle condition and equipment failure.
  • Makes appropriate arrangements and calls in garage personnel to have inoperable vehicle or equipment repaired or towed.
  • Investigates garage and work areas for adherence to safety codes and regulations.
  • Registering and Licensing all vehicles.
  • Maintain detail records of vehicle servicing and inspection.
  • Comply with DOT laws and regulations
  • Monitor fleet gas cards
  • Utilizing GPS system to monitor drivers and track vehicles.
  • Monitor Drive Cam
  • Schedules leave time for fleet employees.
  • Interviews prospective employees and orients to shop operations.
  • May use computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, e-mail and database software in performing work assignments.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises employees in the Body and Vehicle Mechanics; carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

  • Experience in the transportation industry.
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Degree in logistics or accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills

Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent.  ASE Certification and State Inspection license (where applicable) Master Mechanic, Bachelor's degree or 10yrs plus years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of mangers, clients, customers, and the public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid Driver's license, ASE Certification and State Inspection license (where applicable)
