The Westgate Resorts Community Affairs & Foundation team is looking for an expert storyteller!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Communications Manger helps shape and deliver the narrative for the company’s community and internal Foundation strategy.

Along with our agency and internal partners, you will have a leadership role in designing communications for all external and internal platforms and stakeholders from start to finish – from conceptualizing the strategy to the nitty-gritty tactical execution to bringing it all home with high-value impact reporting.

Specifically

  • Help lead key message design and communications plan with ingenuity, clarity, consistency and an effective call-to-action:
  • Recommend how to deliver and manage the flow of information to diverse internal and external audiences, with what message and via what platform
  • Enhance and manage social strategy
  • Collaborate with grantees and community partners in storytelling to create year-long message pipeline
  • Serve as “educator” within all levels of the organization to provide “street-friendly” synthesis of key messages and initiatives
  • Oversee all graphic design, photography and videography as visual extension of messaging, including infographics
  • Apply messaging and brand standards to all digital and print assets, including: westgateresortsfoundation.org
  • Social media
  • Collateral, including recruiting and resort materials
  • Department correspondence and administrative materials
  • Develop and implement a communications plan for the Foundation’s internal fundraising campaign
  • Partner with external agency(ies) on proactive, external earned media strategy
  • Report regularly on results, including crafting the department’s annual impact report
  • Manage external agency(ies)
  • Represent Westgate and share the story of our community investment at local nonprofit and business events
  • Lead application process for multiple recognition awards programs, including project management, cross-department collaboration and crafting submissions
  • Provide essential support for various Westgate-led philanthropic events that impact our Team Members and our resort communities, including annual Westgate Military Weekend
  • Assist with various PowerPoint presentations, speeches and talking points
  • May negotiate contract terms with outside agencies/suppliers
  • May assist with crisis communications programs
  • Perform other duties as assigned

80% of the role will support Community Affairs & Foundation, 20% will support other areas of the business to foster ongoing development and business acumen

Qualifications

  • Exceptional writer
  • Minimum of 7 years communications experience (either PR agency, corporate PR, internal communications or community relations)
  • Experience developing and executing integrated communications campaigns
  • A strong track record of creative storytelling in a digital environment
  • Website and social platform management
  • Experience working with nonprofit organizations and CSR programs
  • Ability to distill complex information into easy-to-understand messages
  • Experience managing agencies
  • Excellent cross-group collaboration and partnership skills
  • Exceptional follow up
  • Experience working with executives and ability to quickly understand and respond to their needs
  • Ability to respond to assignments with little notice, manage shifting priorities, manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Exceedingly strong interpersonal skills with ability to give and receive feedback, work through conflict and build trust
  • Independent thinker with strong organizational and time-management skills, deadline-driven
  • Proficient in MS Office including  

 

Education and/or Experience

Undergraduate degree in journalism, communications, English or related field and 7+ years related communications experience.
