Job Description

General Summary Of Duties:

Accept and produce wages from customers and cash accountability thereof.


Role and Responsibilities: (Includes but is not limited to the following)

1.        Write wagering tickets: Obtain betting information verbally from customer and type it on the keyboard of the computer terminal.

2.        Answering multi-line telephone and obtaining betting information, types on to keyboard of computer terminal to generate wagering ticket.

3.        Using calculators, paper clips, rubber bands and currency wrappers, counts, clips and wraps currency to balance cash with computer dollar amount of generated wager tickets.

Qualifications

Performance Requirements: (Knowledge, skills and abilities)

 

1.        Ability to apply basic mathematics to total multiple wagers, to collect currency and to balance cash.

2.        Ability to effectively deal with internal/external customers, some of whom will require patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information and solve customer concerns. This involves listening to the nature of the concern, demonstrating empathy with the customer and proving positive and proactive solutions.

3.        Ability to read, speak, write and understand the English language in order to comprehend State Gaming regulations and Departmental/Hotel rules/regulations and communicate with other employees.

4.        Ability to understand verbal English to understand verbal requests from supervisor and guests.

5.        Ability to understand written English to read any caution or safety notices.

6.        Ability to understand verbal English in case of emergency situations.

7.        Ability to operate computerized betting terminal, calculator and multi-line telephone in order to complete Race Book transactions.

8.        Ability to remain alert throughout the duration of shift.

9.        Ability to perform tasks requiring reaching and stooping.

10.     Ability to maintain attendance in conformance with standards.

11.     Ability to maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance.


Typical physical / mental demands


Ability to stand and work 50% of shift. Ability to sit and work 50% of shift.


Typical Working Condition:


Ability to work in unfavorable conditions which can occasionally be hot, wet, noisy and dark.

May be exposed to casino related environmental factors including, but not limited to: second hand smoke, excessive noise, and constant interaction with the general public.
