Job Description

General Summary Of Duties:

Monitoring activity of all shift personnel to assure all duties are completed as assigned and responding, if necessary, to make decisions on items of major importance. Also upkeep of administrative office records. Read and approve all shift paperwork prior to it being processed.

Role and Responsibilities: (Includes but is not limited to the following)

  • Primary responsibility is to manage, train and lead security staff in the protection of guests, Team Members, and assets of Westgate Resorts. Additionally, will ensure to monitor shift activity and ensure all tasks are completed properly as assigned.
  • Assist with protecting the welfare of the employees and guests of the casino and hotel.
  • Additionally, oversees and manages all aspects for venue and special events while providing operational guidance to full-time and part-time event security staff.
  • Conduct and disseminate instructions, shift activity, crime alerts and pass-on information to security officers and relief management through pre shift meetings.
  • Ability to schedule and assign officers to specific posts and areas accordingly.
  • Inform hotel executives of major problems and action taken following Hotel/department policy.
  • Ensure all team members are following all departmental policies and procedures.
  • Build and maintain relationships with outside agencies and act as a liaison to Local, State and Federal Law Enforcement and Emergency Medical Services.
  • Be on call and available to respond to incidents and departmental needs on short notice. Also be able to adapt and work extended hours if necessary.
  • Respond to incidents, such as medical events and critical events, and assume control of incident scenes.
  • Administer progressive disciplinary actions to subordinate team members as required under department and company standards.
  • Assists in the continued development of security officers in the performance of their duties.
  • Maintain clear and open communication across all levels and departments.
  • Clearly and properly communicate by means of electronic communications, phone and radio devices.
  • If necessary, testify in legal proceedings as needed.
  • Other duties and assignments as directed by the Director of Security and the Vice President of Surveillance/Security.

Qualifications

Performance Requirements: (Knowledge, skills and abilities)

  1. Ability to listen effectively, read, write, speak, and understand the English language clearly to ascertain and document important information, to follow written and/or verbal instructions, to provide clear direction/guidance and to communicate with other employees/management.
  2. Social skills as demonstrated by the ability to listen and respond to inquiries/concerns using a positive, clear speaking voice, answering questions and/or offering assistance giving accurate information regarding plans, policy, or procedures.
  3. Knowledge of safety/security practices and procedures including: C.P.R., emergency first aid, semi-automatic defibrillator and basic emergency fire equipment.
  4. Basic mathematical skills necessary to verify/balance reports and perform simple calculations.
  5. Ability to organize/prioritize work, meet deadlines, work with minimal supervision/multiple interruptions, exercise judgment, and adapt instructions/directions from one assignment to another.
  6. Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language in case of emergency situations and to read caution and/or safety notices.
  7. Social skills as demonstrated by the ability to listen and respond to management, employee and guests concerns/inquiries using positive, clear speaking voice, answering questions and/or offering assistance while giving accurate information regarding plans, policy or procedures within guidelines.
  8. Respond to guest inquiries.  Provide guest satisfaction through assistance, direction and hotel services information within hotel guidelines.
  9. Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to comprehend product-labeling instructions to enable the safe application of products and processes.
  10. Ability to organize/prioritize work, meet deadlines, work with minimal supervision/multiple interruptions, exercise judgment and adapt instructions/directions from one assignment to another.
  11. Remain calm and alert, especially during emergency situations and/or heavy hotel activity, serving as a role model for other employees.  Resolve complications and complaints by conducting thorough research of the situation and the most effective solutions.  Make decisions and take action based upon previous experience and judgment, sometimes revising procedures to accommodate unusual situations.
  12. Ability to maintain attendance in conformance with standards.

Ability to maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance. 

Experience  Requirements

Prior experience in related field.

Education Requirements

  1. Ability to obtain/renew all government required licenses or certification.  [Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Non-Gaming Work Permit; Alcohol Awareness Card, Valid Driver’s License, American Red Cross Community First Aid and Safety Certificate and American Red Cross Adult, Infant and Child CPR Certificate].  Certified in the proper use of the semi-automatic defibrillator and handcuffing procedures.
