Job Description

General Summary Of Duties:

Provide beverage service in a friendly, courteous, and timely manner resulting in guest satisfaction.

 

Role and Responsibilities: (Includes but is not limited to the following)

Check and maintain proper set up and cleanliness of service station before, during and after shift. 
Maintain cleanliness of guest areas at all times including removing empty glasses/bottles and cleaning ashtrays.
Greet guests in a friendly and courteous manner and explain all special promotions.
Take orders, reciting selection of all call and premium brand as requested; requires memorization of all available drinks. 
Input orders into point of sale system to inform bartender an order was made. 
Replenish beverages as requested, frequently checking back with guest to inquire about satisfaction.
In beverage outlets, present the guest with the check promptly, thanking them and inviting them to return.
Respond to guest inquiries.
Provide guest satisfaction through assistance, direction, and information within Hotel guidelines.

Qualifications

Performance Requirements: (Knowledge, skills and abilities)

  • Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of beverage items/hotel services.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language and utilize math skills for guest checks.
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal/external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information and solve customer concerns within Hotel guidelines.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language in order to provide guest service/satisfaction and communicate with other employees.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to comprehend and follow written and/or verbal instructions from management, guest and other employees.
  • Communicate with supervisor throughout the shift.
  • Basic mathematical skills necessary to operate a cash register, receive cash from guests, make change, total guest checks, count total bank, prepare cash drops, total all other charges and understand portion sizes.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language in case of emergency situations and to read safety and/or caution notices.
  • Ability to remain alert throughout the duration of the shift and remain calm during emergency situations.
  • Ability to deal with a number of problems requiring initiative and good judgement.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language clearly to ascertain and document important information, to follow written and/or verbal instructions and to provide clear direction/guidance.
  • Ability to organize/prioritize work, work with minimal supervision and multiple interruptions.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to complete job requirements and communicate with other employees.
  • Listen and respond to guest inquiries using a positive, clear speaking voice, answer questions and offer assistance giving accurate information.
  • Social skills as demonstrated by the ability to listen and respond to employee or management concerns/inquiries using a positive, clear speaking voice, answering questions and/or offering assistance giving accurate information regarding plans, policy or procedures.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to comprehend product labeling instructions to enable the safe application of products and processes.
  • Check station before, during and after shift for proper set-up and cleanliness.
  • Respond to guest inquiries.  Provide guest satisfaction through assistance, direction and information within hotel guidelines.
  • Good working knowledge of accepted standards of sanitation.
  • Ability to maintain attendance in conformance with standards.
  • Ability to maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance

 

Typical physical / mental demands

  • Sufficient manual dexterity of hand to operate equipment/supplies including charge card machine, trays, glassware, note pad and ash trays.
  • Ability to grasp, bend, lift and/or carry on a tray weighing a maximum of 30 lbs. on a continuous schedule.

 

Typical Working Condition:

  • Ability to walk/stand and work in crowded areas for 95% of the time.
  • Perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling and walking significant distances up to a maximum of 5 miles per shift within the facility. May be exposed to casino related environmental factors including, but not limited to: second hand smoke, excessive noise, and constant interaction with the general public.
