- Salary: $150,081 – $172,392 per annum, plus 17% Super and Leave Loading (Pro-Rata).
Lead teaching and research in General Practice while supporting diverse student success.
The Opportunity
Western Sydney University is seeking a Senior Lecturer in General Practice to contribute to teaching, research and academic leadership within the Faculty of Health, Clinical Sciences. This role plays a key part in delivering high-quality undergraduate, postgraduate and higher degree research education aligned to University priorities and professional standards.
You will design and deliver contemporary learning experiences, act as Course Authority where required, and support students through inclusive, evidence-based teaching practices. The role also contributes to curriculum development, quality assurance, and continuous improvement in learning and teaching.
Alongside teaching, you will engage in scholarly and research activities that build disciplinary impact, support grant development, and contribute to supervision and mentoring of higher degree research candidates and early career academics.
This role offers real impact in the Medical Program and the wider community. Key aspects include:
- Lead teaching and curriculum development in General Practice and Primary Care within the MD program.
- Support and enhance clinical placements in GP and community health settings.
- Drive innovative, contemporary approaches to clinical education.
- Conduct high‑quality primary care research and contribute to competitive funding applications.
- Supervise and mentor students, GP Registrars, and GPs undertaking research.
- Lead and participate in accreditation, quality assurance, and program governance activities.
- Strengthen partnerships with local General Practitioners, Primary Health Networks, community health and professional organisations, and Local Health Districts.
- Build research collaborations across the School, Faculty, and external health sectors.
- Provide academic and pastoral support to MD students.
- Contribute to administrative and service roles within the School and University.

About You
To be considered, you must have:
- Unconditional AHPRA registration with specialist GP registration or equivalent.
- Fellowship with RACGP or ACRRM, or equivalent recognised specialist qualification.
- A PhD or Masters in General Practice/Primary Care, or equivalent high level experience.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching and research in general practice or primary care settings.
Other Highly Regarded Skills & Experience
- Evidence of high quality research outputs relevant to general practice or primary health.
- Experience supervising HDR students.
- Experience in curriculum development and educational innovation.
- Strong capability in online and technology‑enhanced learning.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across disciplines and sectors.
