The Opportunity
Western Sydney University is seeking an accomplished senior leader to guide the strategic capital and development planning, governance and performance of the University’s property and commercial portfolio. This position plays a critical role in shaping the future of Western’s built environment and maximising value from its property and commercial assets.
In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing frameworks that ensure strong governance and budget management, effective risk management and high-quality reporting. You will lead strategic assessments, feasibility studies and provide expert advice to inform capital investment decisions, commercial proposals and long-term development initiatives.
You will also oversee key external and government relationships, manage commercial operations, and ensure compliance with statutory, financial and environmental obligations. This is a pivotal leadership role that influences major programs, strengthens organisational capability and contributes directly to Western’s strategic goals.
What Success Looks Like:
- Driving robust governance frameworks that support major development and commercial programs
- Delivering high‑quality analysis, reporting and advice to inform executive and committee decision-making
- Managing feasibility assessments, commercial proposals and capital program evaluations
- Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders, external partners and government agencies
- Leading a high‑performing team that demonstrates collaboration, service excellence and continuous improvement

About You
- Extensive experience in large-scale development, infrastructure or commercial portfolio management
- Demonstrated capability in program governance, complex reporting and strategic portfolio planning
- Strong financial, analytical and problem‑solving skills with an ability to provide expert advice
- Proven leadership experience, including coaching teams and managing multi‑disciplinary functions
- Highly developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills
