Job Description

  • Develop hard disk media tape burnish processes for next generation of ePMR and HAMR products.
  • Design, carry out, and analyze DOE’s to investigate and optimize process variables and materials for hard disk yield and reliability.
  • Collaborate across multiple teams, including process engineering, product engineering, manufacturing, failure analysis, and material analysis groups.
  • Analyze statistical process control (SPC) data and respond appropriately to ensure processes are in control.
  • Investigate and find root causes of media-related failures.
  • Develop process materials through close collaboration with material vendors.
  • Develop metrology for hard disk media film and interface characterization.
  • Collaborate with equipment engineers to improve existing process tools for next generation media processes.
  • Collaborate with process engineers at manufacturing sites to ensure new process implementation, high yield, and good performance.
  • Explore opportunities for new technologies to provide revolutionary improvement in process performance.
  • Be able to work in cleaning room environment

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science , Chemical Engineering, or related fields
  • 3-5 years’ experience in Semiconductor or Hard Disk Media Industries in Process Development role preferred.
  • Prefer to have advanced experience and knowledge in device fabrication such as polishing, grinding and lapping is desirable, but not necessary.
  • Prefer to have some level of experience communicating with PLC’s and automated equipment
  • The candidate must possess strong data analysis skills in process development and improvement, capable of solving complex process problems with minimum supervision and guidance.
  • Hand-on experience and advanced knowledge in process standardization and statistical process control
  • Experience with running and analyzing DOE’s
  • Proficiency with JMP is helpful
  • Understanding of surface characterization techniques such as laser scanning, AFM, SEM, etc.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Good communication skills.
