Job Description

The Western Digital System Integration Test (SIT) Lab is seeking a detail-oriented Inventory Specialist to manage Hard Disk Drive (HDD) inventory and oversee shipping and receiving operations. This role will collaborate closely with project managers and engineers to ensure accurate tracking, dispersal, collection, and movement of HDDs. The Inventory Specialist will also provide work direction to contractors supporting the team.

Qualifications

Material Handling:

  • Receive, unload, and store Lab materials.
  • Transport pallets or boxes of HDDs to designated storage areas.
  • Ensure proper storage and labeling of materials.
  • Retrieve and deliver materials to test areas as needed.
  • Scan HDDs, boxes or pallets into SIT inventory system.
  • Perform kitting of hard drives for use in storage systems.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations.
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Report any safety hazards or incidents immediately.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of material movements.
  • Provide regular reports on inventory levels and material receipts.
  • Assist in inventory audits as required.

This role is expected to handle up to 50 pound boxes on their own. 

Skills:

  • Basic computer skills.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets (required).
  • Basic arithmetic skills for verifying product quantities.
  • Experience using pallet jacks or hand trucks (beneficial).
  • Experience using hand tools or powered screwdrivers (beneficial).

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • A formal college degree is not required for this role.
