Job Description
Summary:
As a DevSecOps Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of Western Digital's Secure Development Factory (SDF) infrastructure. This position demands a blend of strong technical proficiency in Infrastructure, Linux Operating Systems, Networking, Storage, Database, HaProxy, VMWare, Ansible, and Security, with a primary focus on supporting DevSecOps tools infrastructure. You will collaborate closely with various teams across IT to seamlessly integrate and optimize infrastructure workloads, thus empowering engineering teams to develop and deliver high-quality products efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for infrastructure, operating systems, networking, and security within the DevSecOps environment.
- Deploy, maintain, support, and troubleshoot Linux-based infrastructure on bare metal and vSphere platforms.
- Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, including security hardening and patch management.
- Manage and maintain networking infrastructure, including network pools and firewalls.
- Implement and maintain security measures, including access controls, encryption, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and vulnerability management.
- Support and maintain DevSecOps tools infrastructure, including version control systems, using Configuration management tools such as Ansible.
- Collaborate with DevOps and security teams to design, implement, and automate security controls on the platform.
- Lead Linux System engineering efforts, including deployment automation, troubleshooting, debugging, system resource monitoring, maintenance, optimization, and development Ansible roles/playbooks/modules.
- Act as a technical leader in the use of Infrastructure as Code across IT data centers and enterprise environments.
- Utilize system monitoring solutions like Icinga, Prometheus, Grafana, and PagerDuty to ensure system health and performance.
- Support global teams and resolve production issues, minimizing impact and downtime.
- Develop and maintain documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies, security threats, and best practices in DevSecOps and infrastructure management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 8+ years of hands-on technical leadership experience in IT and software development teams.
- Proven experience in infrastructure and operating system support roles, with a focus on DevSecOps environments.
- Strong expertise in Linux operating systems and Automation including security best practices.
- Proficiency in networking concepts and technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NTP, and VLANs.
- Familiarity with DevOps principles and practices, including continuous integration/delivery and infrastructure as code.
- Preferred knowledge of DevSecOps tools such as Git, Jenkins, Codescene, JFrog Artifactory, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Hands-on experience with scripting languages such as Bash, Ansible or Python for automation.
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles, threat modeling, and risk assessment methodologies.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with an attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Experience supporting a large number of users and developers, providing platform as a service.
- Proven ability to influence and lead high-performing, geographically dispersed teams.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and train junior team members in infrastructure and security best practices.
