Job Description
Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Software Asset Management (SAM) Intern to join our dynamic team. This internship provides an excellent opportunity for students interested in gaining hands-on experience in the field of software asset management, licensing, and compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Software Inventory Management:
- Assist in maintaining an accurate inventory of software licenses and installations.
- Track software usage and updates.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Support the documentation of software license agreements, entitlements, and compliance records.
- Assist in generating reports for software asset management activities.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with the Software Asset Management team to gather and organize information related to software assets.
- Collaborate with IT and procurement teams to ensure accurate records and compliance.
- License Optimization:
- Participate in initiatives to optimize software licenses and reduce costs.
- Contribute to research on licensing models and industry best practices.
- Vendor Management:
- Assist in maintaining relationships with software vendors.
- Support the team in negotiations and communications with vendors.
- Education and Training:
- Engage in training sessions to enhance knowledge of software asset management principles.
- Stay informed about industry trends and updates related to software licensing.
Qualifications
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's program in Management Information Systems, Accounting & Information Systems, or a related field with an expected graduation date between December 2024-June 2025.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic understanding of software licensing concepts is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Preference given to candidates who will not require relocation to the San Jose, CA area. Relocation will not be offered for this position.
- Right to work in the US without requiring Western Digital to commence or sponsor an immigration case to employ you at any point in the future required (for example, H-1B or other employment-based immigration case)
