Join the People Solutions leadership team, as VP, People & Business Partner, providing strategic people consultation to the leaders of our Flash Business and Technology & Strategy group. In this role, you will report to the Chief People & Inclusion Officer and lead a team of People Partners. You will partner with the business to execute and realize the goals of our people strategy and support the strategic direction of the talent development and enablement needs of a fast-changing industry and global workforce.

Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership of the global data governance function.
  • Develop and implement a shared vision/strategy for scalable, effective and usable Data Governance in partnership with Business leaders and the VP of Analytics Data Platform.
  • Build strong partnerships with business leadership from exec level to middle management across business functions and produce a data governance roadmap.
  • Align data strategy to business goals. Enable business intelligence capabilities to influence business strategy through data-driven decision making, including predictive forms of BI.
  • Create and gain consensus for enterprise data governance principles including data ownership, access, quality, privacy/security, compliance and certification.
  • Be a role model for client/customer centricity for the entire data engineering and analytics team.
  • Foster a culture of providing actionable business insights and measurable ROI of data operations to cross-functional leaders.
  • Facilitate the strategies and implementation of the data component of the strategic split of Flash and HDD organizations.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of progressive experience as a hands-on data leader in a technology organization.
  • A solid foundation in data management and analytics, with specific expertise in data governance. Demonstrated success building and leading vision, strategy, and execution for data management with a focus on data governance as a key component.
  • History of success implementing data governance programs, with the ability to demonstrate the business impact of such initiatives.
  • Experience successfully managing cross-functional relationships with senior functional leaders.
  • History of action-biased approach to delivery of high performance, transparent data management capabilities, underscored by continuous improvement.
  • Ability to lead in a hands-on manner, sweat the details and scale to an enterprise level.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop short- and long-term strategies.
  • Experience in leading direct and highly matrixed orgs of 20+ team members.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to influence stakeholders.
  • Experienced producing results in an agile development methodology environment.

  • An employee’s pay position within the salary range may be based on several factors including but not limited to (1) relevant education; qualifications; certifications; and experience; (2) skills, ability, knowledge of the job; (3) performance, contribution and results; (4) geographic location; (5) shift; (6) internal and external equity; and (7) business and organizational needs.
  • The salary range is what we believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California, Colorado, New York or remote jobs that can be performed in California, Colorado and New York.  This range may be modified in the future.
  • You will be eligible to participate in Western Digital’s Short-Term Incentive (STI) Plan, which provides incentive awards based on Company and individual performance.  Depending on your role and your performance, you may be eligible to participate in our annual Long-Term Incentive (LTI) program, which consists of restricted stock units (RSUs) or cash equivalents, pursuant to the terms of the LTI plan.
