Job Description
Job Purpose:
Seeking for a qualified and experienced Legal Counsel & Contracts Manager to join India Legal team. This role will be instrumental in drafting, managing the contract processes, providing legal guidance, and advising compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This position will contribute to our legal operations and play a vital role in supporting our business functions not only in India but also, if needed, in other countries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Part of India Legal Team supporting the Head of Legal, India in:
- Providing legal advisory to internal stakeholders on contractual matters, risks, and compliance issues.
- Interpreting and explaining complex legal concepts in a clear and concise manner to non-legal colleagues.
- Assisting in resolving contractual disputes and conflicts, working towards favourable resolutions
- Drafting legal letters to authorities, stakeholders and representing the company as needed
- Managing site level projects
- Collaborating with functions on matters related to employment, tax, company secretarial, customs etc
- Represent and contribute to various Centres Of Excellence
- Handle essential legal administrative functions
- Contracts Management:
- Draft and negotiate various contracts, including supplier contracts, services contracts, Inter-company and licensing agreements for India.
- Oversee the entire contract lifecycle, ensuring timely renewals and compliance with terms and conditions.
- Efficiently handle the entire contract lifecycle, from creation to execution
- Review contracts to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to established internal policies and legal standards
- Be India’s representative and contributor to the Global Contracts Management Office, supporting standardization, updation and administration.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align contracts with organizational goals and objectives.
- Compliance and Risk Management:
- Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations relevant to contracts and corporate operations
- Conduct risk assessments on contracts and recommend strategies to mitigate potential legal risks.
- Develop, implement and administer internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with laws
- Training and Education:
- Conduct training sessions to enhance employee awareness on legal matters and best practices
- Foster a culture of compliance and ethics within the organization.
Qualifications
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Law from a recognized institution; postgraduate degree is a plus.
- Proven 3-5 years of experience in contracts drafting, negotiation, management and legal support in a corporate setting
- Strong understanding of contract law principles and hands-on experience in drafting contracts, legal letters and negotiation.
- Familiarity with Indian laws and regulations related to contracts and business operations.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and manage multiple tasks.
