As a member of Western Digital’s IT Engineering Services and Solutions (ESS) team, this Architect will be the “technical glue” that ensure IT can integrate IT services and best practices into WD’s development teams and labs. This Architect will be responsible for bringing IT teams (VMs / compute / network / storage / Security and others) to aid the design and deployment of large scale product development solutions so these solutions can scalable confidently and be sustainable. This Architect will partner with teams that provide WD’s global solutions for Networking, Storage, VM, Applications, Security, Data Center Management to aid in designing and deploying state of the art engineering applications used in product development.  This Architect will be focused on using the latest WD enterprise solutions, as well as bringing in new IT and DevOps industry standards as it relates to automation, containerization monitoring and datacenter/cloud computing.  Additionally, the Architect will be a trusted partner to both peer teams inside IT and to the broader engineering community he/she is working with.   

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work as part of IT Engineering Services and Solutions (ESS) team
• Deep understanding of both Engineering and IT eco-systems
  • Integrate IT based solutions and best practices into Engineering workflows for improved development throughput and improved resilience of deployed solutions
  • Design/architect IT solutions into Engineering workflows and applications
• Execute complex multi-disciplinary projects for engineering application development and deployment acting as Tech-lead working with other IT towers as well as Engineering teams
• Provide IT best practices education to Engineering teams

REQUIRED:

• 8 years experience in IT relevant activities
• Deep IT infrastructure understanding: Compute (Windows and Linux), Enterprise Network, Enterprise Storage Solutions, Virtualization, Containerization
• Good Engineering development processes understanding dev/QA/CI-CD/validation
• IT and development tools familiarity: Source-Control, Bug-reporting, Automation, Ansible, Terraform…

SKILLS:

• Excellent interpersonal skills and team player
• Ability to work as part of a global team in multiple geographies
• Ability to translate technical requirements into deployable development solutions
