Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead, drive and implement technical improvement and new technology in the area of contamination control of various types of materials and processes.
  • Provide technical advisory role to mechanical SQE on contamination related issues to ensure that the corrective actions are effective and systemic
  • Liaise with Material Science Lab to resolve any testing related issues or exploring new testing method for contamination control
  • Liaise with design centres in implementing new  cleanliness specifications at suppliers
  • Audit suppliers to ensure they are meeting the required quality standards related to surface treatment processes and contamination control  in manufacturing process such as stamping, machining, assembly process operations, molding,etc
  • Work with Western Digital factories in resolving any quality issues by implementing effective solutions and long term continuous quality improvement initiatives with suppliers
  • Work with suppliers to drive performance improvement in major cleanliness parametric based on bench marking
  • Qualify new suppliers which have been identified by Procurement and work to bring suppliers to a high quality standards as required by WDC 

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering/Chemistry/Polymer Science preferred. Other degree disciplines in Mechanical Engineering,Materials Engineering and Material Science can be considered provided experience is relevant
  • At least 8 years in Engineering or related fields
  • Able to travel to suppliers on short notice
  • Able to write and has good command of English

PREFERRED:

  • Previous experience in Hard disk drive or chemical related industries
  • Experienced in Quality Management Tool
  • Trained in Six-sigma and familiar with FMEA, SPC and other quality tool 
  • Previous experience in Supplier Quality Management and Control system (Supplier management Guideline)
  • Can work independently with minimum supervision
  • Traveling within Asia may be required
