Job Description

Western Digital is seeking a Field Applications Engineer to join our customer engineering support team. We are looking for candidates that can work in a fast-growing and dynamic environment and are able to build strong relationships with customers.  

As a Field Applications Engineer, you will be part of a high performing team supporting a key account. Candidate will be responsible for leading and managing qualification activities. You will be working with customers and cross functional teams on driving customer qualification initiatives and resolving qualification issues to launch Western Digital’s new products to the market. This includes failure analysis and debug of qualification issues, coordinating periodical qualification meetings, driving qualification escalations.  

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Manage qualification activities, issues, and escalations with Western Digital’s business customers Includes: 

  • Defining qualification plan and subsequent activities management 

  • Managing and tracking qualification metrics 

  • Lead periodical customer meeting to track customer qualification progress, issue and initiatives 

  • Hands on 1st level failure analysis to debug customer issue 

  • Work hand-in-hand with Engineering and other cross-functional organizations to resolve issues and provide closure response to customer 

  • Assist with communicating customer requests for compliance with internal teams and coordinate customer deliverables such as gap analysis, feature request, required documents, etc.  

  • Represent and advocate customer needs and priorities to internal teams. 

  • Provide technical support and documentation. 

  • Lead and coordinate Engineering Change notification and qualification activities 

 

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Current student, pursuing a Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, and graduating between December 2022 and June 2023

  • Minimum of 3.0 GPA 

  • Strong technical skills 

  • Interest in nonvolatile memory, hard disk drives, and the storage industry 

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills  

  • Excellent interpersonal and project management skills 

  • Strong team-player who can collaborate with colleagues 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications  

  • Flexibility to Travel
