Position Background

As part of the multi-site team, you will get to collaborate and design solutions for the challenging yet unique problems in HDD firmware development. This position is based in in Western Digital Tech and Regional Center (M), which is a Center of Excellence located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Our team is focused on quality and validation of next generation firmware architecture and algorithms to deliver high performance and cost-efficient enterprise HDD products. Employee will be working in a development environment with opportunity to learn and grow in multiple disciplines.

The position is currently only open to Malaysian as there is limitation of expatriate hiring in the guideline.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Full Stack Software Engineer

  • Be part of the development team that validate and deliver quality firmware for Enterprise data storage products.
  • Build next-generation web application with a focus on usability
  • Design and develop overall architecture (client-side and server-side).
  • Design and develop APIs that comply with Open-API 3.1 specification.
  • Creating database schemas that represent and support business processes.
  • Structure prototyping workgroup to prove out proposed new architectures, develop best practices and document solutions for prioritization with the engineering.
  • Support the technical relationships with HDD FW engineering community, including solution briefings, proof-of-concept work and prioritize solutions that has the biggest impact on the engineering community.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams, independently in issue resolutions, determining & analyze process issues.
  • Follows organization processes and guidelines for firmware quality and strives to meet company goals and objectives.

Qualifications

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Experience in the following: .NET, C#, HTML5, JavaScript, CSS3, PostgreSQL
  • Experience with legacy and modern application development, service delivery and deployment, converged infrastructure, virtualization systems, containers and associated technologies.
  • Minimum 4 years of working experience in relevant field or software/firmware test experience
  • Capable of quickly learning hardware, systems, tools, and methodologies.
  • Must have a high degree of problem solving skills and solutions oriented.
  • Ability to effectively manage projects and tasks to deliver deadlines and commitments. 
  • Self-motivated to work both supervised and unsupervised as part of the quality team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication in both written and verbal.
  • Able to work under pressure for quick resolution and delivery.

DESIRED SKILLS and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Experience with developing scalable architectures using API management, microservice frameworks, container orchestration systems, or other similar platforms.
  • Ability to address application security patterns including web application security.
