Job Description

We are seeking highly motivated university students to learn and contribute hands-on with our HDD engineering teams for a Fall Co-Op. Current student pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field and graduating December 2022 and beyond are encouraged to apply.

We are recruiting for the following areas where you can be hired into a role within the group: 

  • Firmware Development Engineering (4 months) - As a Firmware Development Co-Op Engineer, you will be part of a team of growth minded problem solvers that are bringing to life world-class performance for our customers. In this role, you will learn and develop protocol-based firmware using C/C++ and Python, work with team members to support and enhance CI test infrastructure, triage and debug complex firmware bugs, and develop firmware specification documents.

What is the RAMP Program? The RAMP Program is supplemental to your day-to-day internship responsibilities. In this program, you will gain deeper exposure to Western Digital’s culture and the different parts of the organization. RAMP Program elements include:

Qualifications

  • Current student pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Engineering Physics, or related field and graduating December 2022 and beyond
  • Developing technical skills and area of study towards, but not limited to, analog and/or digital electronics, Verilog, VHDL, C/C++, Python, Linux operating systems, Matlab, Solidworks, Ansys
  • Right to work in the US without requiring Western Digital to commence or sponsor an immigration case in order to employ you (for example, H-1B or other employment-based immigration case)
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications 
  • Interest in HDD, flash, semiconductor, components, nonvolatile memory industry
