Job Description

The Western Digital PMO office provides support for all IT projects.  As part of the project support, the PMO office is responsible to assist IT project managers in defining projects and creating templates to assist project managers.  PMO provides support for project information during all aspects of the project lifecycle (budget, approval to spend, project execution and project closure).  The PMO IT Project Manager will be responsible to learn the PMO processes and provide support for maintaining project information and supporting the creation of project artifacts.  The PMO IT Project Manager will also be responsible to coordinate and lead projects within IT.

To be successful in this role, the PMO IT Project Manager must be able to understand the basics of project lifecycles, follow instructions, work on tasks with minimal supervision and work collaboratively with various individuals and teams within IT.  The IT Project Manager must be able to learn, understand and support PMO processes.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assists in creating templates for IT projects.
  • Partners closely with the PMO to create, track and report on IT project information.
  • Manage project deliverables and milestones within approved timelines and budget
  • Utilize Western Digital’s System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Project Management Methodology to manage the development, customization, configuration, testing, and implementation of Business/IT systems
  • Manage and coordinate day-to-day operational and tactical aspects of approved projects
  • Document decisions and action items of team meetings
  • Collect risks, issues, and dependencies associated with larger programs

This position requires the resource to work US hours.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA preferred or equivalent experience
  • At least 3 years of hands-on Project Management Experience.
  • Excellent business systems analysis and project management skills
  • Knowledge of the SDLC methodologies
  • Must possess strong documentation skills and can work with rapid change and fast pace
  • High energy and ability to work independently in very fast growth environment
  • Exceptionally collaborative, flexible and adaptable when working with customers and various teams within Western Digital
  • Self-motivated and self-directed, however, must have demonstrated ability to work well as team
  • A proven desire to work as a team member, both on the same team and outside of the team
  • Ability to troubleshoot and analyze complex problems
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to be a team player in geographically dispersed teams
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills to manage complex process and technology issues
  • Excellent desktop software skills – MS Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Visio, etc
