Job Description

Western Digital is looking for an experienced Firmware/Software Architect to lead an exciting new product development opportunity within the enterprise Hard Disk Drive organization.
Responsible for coordinating firmware designs and synchronizing prototype activities across multiple development organizations, manufacturing, and hardware teams.  Also responsible for ensuring high quality design and development, with a focus on adherence to architectural vision and a robust test and qualification strategy.

Qualifications

Technical Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of firmware and embedded systems
    • Knowledge of Hard Disk Drives a plus
  • Knowledge of interfaces such as SAS, SATA, & NVMe and their interactions with firmware
  • A Bachelor or higher degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent education.
  • 10~15 years working experience in software/firmware architecture and/or development for embedded systems.
  • Excellent C/C++/Python programming skills with experience in embedded system design and development

  • Strong Communication skills, internally and cross-functionally
  • Excellent documentation skills
  • Ability to drive consensus and commitment across a technical leadership community
  • Ability to problem solve, both in terms of technical compromises and creatively managing personnel and budget constraints
