Job Description

  • Coordinate with Planning/Purchasing to maintain chemical and gas cylinder inventory, including:
    • Adding New chemicals to Oracle inventory
    • Maintain gas tracking per tool for quarterly planning report
    • Verify received chemicals are the correct inventory
    • Support “new supplier” qualifications
  • Work with purchasing group when force majeure goes into effect.
  • Chem. Ops. Staff Coordination:
    • Ensure staff is trained and have current procedures covering all Chem. Ops. responsibilities
    • Audit system in place to review procedural compliance
    • Coordinate work schedule/vacation coverage for the group
    • Corrective action for non-compliances
    • Ensure "audit ready" status for internal/external audits by the EH&S and regulatory agencies.
  • Update and approve the necessary ECN’s.
  • Support all new tool/process installations by working with facilities engineering, equipment engineering and process engineering.
  • Maintain incoming chemical qualifications and COA’s.
  • Hazardous Waste Disposal
    • Scheduling weekly shipments
    • Ensuring daily/weekly
    • Maintaining and updating over 30 Waste Profiles with EH&S
    • Coordinate waste removal projects with Analytical group
    • Waste bunker maintenance coordination
  • Order/Maintain Chem. Lab consumables

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in Biology or Chemistry, or a high school education with 2 years of college in a related scientific discipline. 
  • A very hands-on person with a good knowledge or that can pick up technical details quickly is much better than just a book smart person. 
  • SPC/Computer skills and be technically competent.  
  • Exceptional attention to detail, good communication skills, is a self-starter and works with little direction or oversite, once trained.

SKILLS:

  • Able to follow documented procedures and make accurate chemical solutions.
  • Familiarity with use of common laboratory equipment such as: Spectro Titan XRF Tool, Mettler DL70ES Titrator, Orion pH meters, Agilent 8453, or equivalent.   
  • Must possess computer skills and be familiar with Excel. 
  • Basic knowledge on how to work safely with laboratory chemicals.
  • Experience working in chemical laboratory with a variety of chemicals.
  • Able to follow standard lab procedures and make accurate chemical test solutions.
  • Familiarity with use of common laboratory equipment such as: Spectro Titan XRF Tool, Mettler DL70ES Titrator, Orion pH meters, Agilent 8453, or equivalent.   
  • Have fundamental knowledge in the area of Titrations, Extractions, Surface Tension, XRF, pH Readings, and general chemical mixing procedures.
  • Ability to work on several projects at once and keep good written documentation of activities.
  • Sets up laboratory equipment and instrumentation required for tests, research, or process control.
  • Tests and analyzes products to determine strength, stability, purity, chemical content, and other characteristics. Documents results of tests, analyses and display’s in SPC charts.
  • Good oral and written communication skills Job involves working was hazardous chemicals, standing, walking, a lot of hand work such as that required for sample preparation and the ability to lift 10 pounds on a routine basis and up to 50 pounds occasionally.  
  • Proven ability to work on complex assignments.
