As the Validation Engineering Technician performing the role of Engineering Technician Support, you are focused, problem solver, team player, and have exceptional communications and technical skills. You should be an enthusiastic; motivational role model with a sincere interest in assisting engineers with specific technical expertise in the effort to support Engineering related Activities or Qualification work with particular reference to Validation activities.  You would be part of the technical resource pool to support new product development, transfer, sustaining programs till EOL of products. Being in Validation Engineering, you will be able to apply and enhance your technical skills and contribute to technologies introduced by Western Digital.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Perform Validation activities under various test functions
• Supports Engineering Evaluations and other Qualification Activities as required by Engineering 
• Maintain and repair lab equipment, tools, and tester
• Ensure correct settings and configuration are applied on the tester prior to use for validation test 
• Collaborate with Engineers and fellow technicians in Failure Analysis and Improvement Activities
• Supports Engineering Evaluations and other Qualification Activities as required by Engineering
• Reviews and recommends changes to SOPs as needed
• Help engineers in the management of drives logistics

REQUIRED: 

• Diploma in Computer Science / IT / Engineering (Electronics / Mechanical / Electro-Mechanical)
• Minimum 5 years of recent experience working in an area of their specialty or related field

PREFERRED:

• Knowledge in electronic product testing
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Windows

SKILLS: 

• Basic computer configuration skills 
• Handling of precision instruments and tools
• Can work independently or with minimal supervision
• Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal and relational skills, with the ability to quickly develop relationships of trust and confidence with a variety of people and personalities, at all levels within an organization 
• Self-motivated with the ability to effectively multi-task and work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team environment 
• Strong active listening skills with the ability to ask thoughtful questions to ensure instructions is correctly carried out
