The Mechanical Engineer will design and develop mechanics and mechanisms for a wide variety of storage systems consisting of hard disk drives, solid state drives, fans, power supplies and electronics with high speed communication interfaces. The candidate will design and develop using SolidWorks solid modelling software in a revision-controlled environment. Deliverables will consist of mechanisms, parts, and subassemblies made from metal, sheet metal, molded plastic and other elastomers. Due to the complex interrelationships of these systems, the engineer will work closely with other Electrical, Mechanical, and Firmware Engineers to develop mechanical enclosure solutions in a process driven environment.  The candidate must possess strong analytical skills and be a creative “out of the box” thinker. In this role, the engineer will be a contributor on design programs and will be required to work closely with engineers in other departments and locations. The candidate should understand Mechanical Engineering concepts, be familiar with product life cycles and agile development and be responsible for the entire engineering life cycle of their assigned area including design, implementation, integration, test, documentation and maintenance. A working knowledge of MATLAB and/or other technical analysis software is a plus.

The candidate will also be responsible for writing and executing test specifications to ensure designs can be tested and proven to meet design requirements with test reports a deliverable out of the process. Each project team consists of cross-functional engineers with electrical, mechanical, firmware and manufacturing backgrounds. As a member of the project team your creative thinking and judgment will contribute to the overall resolution of technical, logistical, cost, and schedule issues for the program. In this position, you may work closely with support engineers in support of customer issues and their resolution.

This is an entry level position for the right individual with superior technical skills, good project management abilities, and an enthusiasm for success.

• Some understanding of manufacturing technologies and methodologies.
• Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally (<10% total work time on average).
• Ability to lift 50lbs on an as needed basis.
• B.S. Mechanical Engineering
• 2-5 Years of Experience as Mechanical Engineer with Solidworks
• Injection Molding, Design Sheetmetal, Plastic Injection Molding experience needed.
