Job Description
Responsible for actions to achieve compliance with WD Corporate Quality standards on assemblies and components produced by contract manufacturers (CM) and suppliers:
- Approve Vendor Listing (AVL) qualification.
- Material and component certification.
- Manages manufacturing and quality actions of approved production suppliers to support the objectives of the Platform Operations group:
- Directs, reviews and approves First Article Inspection (FAI) reports produced by the supplier and/ or contract manufacturer.
- Establishes, monitors and takes action, as necessary, on quality production control metrics of the CM and suppliers. Typical items include regular incoming inspection reports, supplier quality issue tracking and adding new suppliers to the AVL.
- Action owner for quality excursions caused by manufacturing defects. Works with suppliers on failure and root cause analysis, corrective action implementation and supplier 8D reports.
Manages Design for Manufacturing, Cost and Quality actions between contract manufacturers and suppliers consistent with Manufacturing Readiness Review (MRR) requirements and Manufacturing Requirements Document (MRD).
Participates in Quarterly Business Reviews (QBR) with CM and suppliers for ongoing quality monitoring, corrective actions and improvements.
Liaison between CM and Platform Operations team:
- Managing escalations and using 8D process, working with JIRA process
- Approving new suppliers- provide actions for approval plan
- Subject Matter Expert (SME) for production changes to supply chain and CM.

Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical, Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
- 10 years experience work with suppliers and fabricators of PCBAs, SOCs, components, power supplies, fans and large scale box builds like JBODs.
- Experience working with internal and external cross-functional, international teams
- Subject expert in PCBA SMT processes for assembly, inspection and test.
- Experience or working knowledge of quality management tools and standards.
- Experience or working knowledge in statistical process management and quality tools.
- Experience or working knowledge in risk management tools such as FMEA, Kepner-Tregoe
