Werkspot is a fast-growing internet company with headquarters right in the centre of Amsterdam. Our mission is to be the easiest and most reliable way to arrange home services. In The Netherlands, we are the market leader with Werkspot.nl. We are rapidly expanding internationally and started with the launch of Instapro.it in Italy in late 2014 from our office in Amsterdam. This year we started to have our product active in France.

 

Team & Technology

We are working in cross-functional teams. Each team contains people from different departments like Technology, UX, Product, Marketing and Data. The teams are working closely together, applying Agile principles and taking ownership to implement the desired product changes. Our international and scalable platform is running on a LEMP stack and is using a variety of SaaS solutions. We work in an event-driven way. We are building our core KPI’s on top of our event collection. Besides the events, we load data from different sources like MySQL, Salesforce, Google Analytics and various others towards Amazon Redshift. On top of Redshift, we use Looker to give our end users the right business insights and the ability to create reports and dashboards themselves.

Job Description

To bring our data-driven efforts to the next level we're looking for someone to lead our data & analytics efforts. You will be part of the data team and will guide and support the data engineers to build great data solutions to help teams have the right insights. You are business minded and are able to reflect these needs in data-driven solutions. You will be responsible for the data architecture and sharing this vision amongst the (software) engineers.

 

We expect from you

  • Mentor & coach a team of data engineers
  • Setup and prioritise with the product owner a roadmap to implement a scalable and secure architecture to fulfil the demand of data requests
  • Professional experience with SQL, ETL Tools, Databases, and Event Collection Systems
  • Understanding of business intelligence tools e.g. Looker, Tableau
  • Able to design and implement reliable data pipelines in production from multiple data sources to support Data science and analytical reporting.
  • 3+ years of experience with data modelling and architecting data stores in big data environments like Redshift
  • Thorough knowledge of Python or some other programming language
  • Good understanding of AWS Cloud services e.g., S3, Redshift, Server-less (Lambda functions) and Sagemaker
  • Passionate about the technical and business challenges and motivated to question the status quo
  • Aware of technology trends regarding data structure, handling, and storage
  • Able to lead collaboration, with strong communication and organisational skills
  • Fluent in English
