Job Description

Manage and troubleshoot multiple highly integrated/complex applications in support of Wellmark’s systems. Provide advanced troubleshooting and resolution of system incidents and problems while collaborating with application delivery, infrastructure and other business partners. Maintain documentation and evaluate changes to determine the risk to current environments.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 8 years of direct and applicable experience OR Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS or related field of study plus 4 years of testing and/or troubleshooting in a fast-paced environment, acting as a subject matter technology resource on one or more applications (ex. Angular 2 (or newer), NodeJS (or newer), TypeScript, C#, .NET, Java, or analyzing data and utilizing reporting tools such as SQL, Business Objects/Power BI, etc.)
  • Ability to engage 3rd party vendors, such as Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, Cognizant, etc, in troubleshooting
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to changes quickly
  • Proven analytical abilities when working across multiple data sources
  • Ability to effectively communicate, verbal and written
  • Demonstrated ability to formulate make decisions and to influence others
  • Proven to be highly organized, with an ability to multitask, all the while maintaining high attention to detail
  • Self-starter not only to troubleshoot, but to provide proactive solutions

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience partnering with global staffing vendors to deliver projects

Additional Information

a. Manage and troubleshoot multiple highly integrated/complex applications in support of Wellmark’s systems. Provide technical guidance and coordinate of system implementations and upgrades. Proactively monitor systems availability performance and capacity and advise leadership of system health.

b. Provide tactical troubleshooting and resolution of system incidents and problems while collaborating with application delivery, infrastructure and business partners.

c. Utilize strong customer service skills in response to new release and customer inquiries and become well-versed with common problem inquiries and be able to provide immediate solutions.

d. Collaborate with infrastructure and information security to ensure that regulatory and security requirements are maintained. 

e. Maintain documentation and design papers defining infrastructure, implementation, systems administration, system management, testing, problem escalation and maintenance. 

f. Assist in the research, evaluation, and selection of technology solutions that are compliant with Wellmark’s adopted standards allowing integration into the existing environments with minimal impact to users.

g. In collaboration with enterprise availability, assist with high availability/high reliability application environments across a complex technical enterprise by providing in-depth cross functional technical expertise to implement, support, and improve corporate wide and business line specific systems. 

h. Evaluate changes to determine the risk to current technical environment to determine and recommend the most effective implementation strategy. 

i. In support of production/application systems, provide application expertise to support project investments. Provide system availability, performance expectations and capacity requirement.

j. Assist and collaborate with leadership regarding the development of a multi-year application plans; accounting for investments, inter-dependencies with infrastructure, vendor product roadmaps, and business applications strategies. 

k. Attain and leverage technical expertise of current and emerging technologies, as well as exhibiting a practical project management skill-set, to promote strong internal and external customer relationships. 

l. Develop business knowledge of the application in order to effectively provide support maintenance.

m. Support disaster recovery and business continuity efforts and plans in the event of a disaster. Ensure audit processes are followed and reports provided to leadership as necessary. Communicate crisis data or disaster recovery actions, and escalations to appropriate internal and external stakeholders. Ensure minimal impacts to users during implementation and post maintenance activities.

n. As needed, may engage in development activities to support enhancement and maintenance of application systems or project investments.
