Job Description
Use your strengths at Wellmark as a Government Programs Compliance Specialist!
Reporting to the Team Leader, Compliance Program and Oversight, our Government Programs Compliance Analyst provides day-to-day support to the Compliance Office by supporting various tasks/initiatives assigned to the corporate ethics and compliance program with specific emphasis on compliance and operational oversight duties for government programs, namely Wellmark's Medicare Advantage business, Medicare Part D and Exchange (QHP). May support or assist with compliance responsibilities related to other government programs.

Qualifications
Required:
- Associate's degree or direct and applicable work experience.
- 1+ years’ experience in a compliance, legal, risk management or similar role.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with appreciation for confidentiality and sensitivity to the nature of the work.
- Strong documentation skills.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and proactively; ability to work collaboratively as a team to achieve defined goals, projects and/or objectives.
- Analytical skills and careful attention to detail.
- Ability to help facilitate and participate in informal and/or formal training sessions.
- Proficiency with MS Office software applications.
- Aptitude to learn and stay current on compliance best practices and industry regulations.
Preferred:
- Experience working with one or more government programs or compliance operations from within insurance, financial services or related industry.
- Medicare Advantage, Medicare Part D or Exchange experience is a plus.
- Paralegal certificate or past experience in a paralegal type role
Additional Information
a. Provide support for tasks and initiatives in support of the compliance program; includes various administrative tasks such as keeping meeting notes, creating meeting agendas, providing audit support, organizing responses and tracking deliverables, tracking procedure development and vendor monitoring responses, etc. Ensure activities are on track for completion.
b. Maintain data and create routine reports for Medicare Part D, Medicare Advantage and Exchange (QHP).
c. Support the maintenance of the Compliance Oversight Activities (COA) tool, including follow-up with business owners related to outstanding Corrective Action Process (CAP) items/information.
d. Support day-to-day activities for the compliance program and work to achieve the goals of the annual Compliance Program Plan as approved by the Compliance Committee of the Board of Directors and supported by the compliance office staff and the inter-departmental Compliance team.
e. Provide support in the creation of compliance related training and may participate in deliverings to employees through presentations, training classes, attendance at staff meetings, etc., as well as periodically to external audiences including, customers, non-employees, brokers and agents and providers.
f. Provide support with executing the compliance monitoring plan and compliance risk assessment designed to maintain all elements required of an effective compliance program.
g. Assist in the development and maintenance of policies and procedures in compliance with corporate policy governance rules.
h. Assist in the preparation and development of materials that support the Compliance Officer’s Board communications and presentations or reporting to other corporate entities.
i. Participate as needed in inter-departmental project teams, work groups and process improvement initiatives.
j. Help ensure the company’s compliance program is proactive and consultative by interaction and partnering with all areas and individuals as needed.
k. Other duties as assigned.
