Job Description
Bring Your Strengths to Wellmark as a Data Governance Process Consultant!
In this role, you will be accountable for building effective partnerships across the organization, understanding the Enterprise Data Governance EDG strategy, and improving processes to effectively consult and influence decisions that will help shape enterprise-wide Data Governance. You will be responsible for building and maintaining business data assets through the development, documentation, and management of Data Governance processes, policies, procedures and standards including process design and improvement responsibilities, as well as ensuring the training, communication and process monitoring adherence. We expect you to apply business process management, lean, and six sigma methodologies to improve efforts, maximizing business performance, increasing customer satisfaction and returning savings to the bottom line.
Ideal candidates possess an understanding of Data Warehouses / Data Management and are able to coordinate/manage issues in collaboration with IT. You identify as a jack-of-all-trades and you gain energy from a workday that brings variety. You are comfortable with ambiguity, as you will have new projects and initiatives arise consistently that you are asked to tackle. This role is hybrid in nature: 50% heavy process improvement focused, 50% ad hoc/daily responsibilities. You are process-minded, meaning you are able to see the big picture and how we get from A to B. Lastly, you have experience working in a technical and/or data environment, with the ability to deliver complex messaging to audiences both technical and not.

Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or direct and applicable work experience
- Minimum of 3+ years demonstrated experience working in a data governance (technical or business) role OR 5+ years of proven process improvement experience
- Demonstrated workflow management skills – ability to document or guide others through a series of related steps where the sequence and order of each step is important to the flow of work, and are able to make recommendations and changes to the workflow to improve processes
- Demonstrated ability to be highly analytical – identifying issues or inconsistencies, obtaining relevant information, relating and comparing data from different sources, and identifying alternative solutions
- Ability to problem solve and come up with “out of the box” options or solutions
- Proven ability to compile and communicate reporting/metrics – compile and analyze data for the purpose of telling a story with the data/metrics
- Demonstrated high attention to detail and proven organizational and time management skills, with the ability to continually re-prioritize and/or multitask
- Demonstrated communication skills – written and verbal – to deliver messages suited for the audience
- Proficient Microsoft Office Suite skills – PC knowledge, including the use of spreadsheets, process mapping, presentation and word processing software
- Ability and interest in staying up to date on immerging trends in the industry and technology
- Demonstrated experience with data collection/documentation – observing, monitoring, collecting and recording data. Ability to assess the accuracy, validity and integrity of data and/or develop metrics.
- Ability and interest to coach and mentor others by providing guidance and feedback to help an employee strengthen their knowledge and skills.
Additional Information
a. Design and management of key data governance processes; such as code set governance, master data management, data issue management, acronyms and abbreviations management, breach process, naming conventions, among others.
b. Execution and administration of data governance tools and applications; such as metadata applications and the data governance SharePoint site. Oversee the administration and execution of these tools, including licensing and upgrades.
c. Will develop, document, train and communicate applicable data governance policies, procedures and standards.
d. Work in collaboration with Technology to identify and develop data governance workflow tasks and necessary template documents within the broader SDLC (systems development lifecycle) and ACR processes for building data assets.
e. Lead enterprise wide process improvement initiatives, utilizing business process management, lean, and six sigma methodologies, to maximize business performance related to data governance processes.
f. Other duties as assigned.
f. Works jointly with Information Security (IS) and Compliance departments to ensure data asset compliance with Security and Privacy policies and standards.
g. Will support internal audits of data assets & Data Governance processes.
