Tinka is a sister company of Wehkamp and part of the RFS Holding/Wehkamp Group. We are a financial services provider in Point-of-Sale financing solutions like invoice and credit. Until 2018 all services were exclusively distributed in the Wehkamp Group to consumers shopping at Wehkamp. In 2019 we started to offer the services to other retailers, with BCC as the first new customer in February 2019 and recently adding new partners such as Buckaroo and Intersolve. 

Tinka operates in a dynamic environment. We have a long history of 50 years+ for providing customer credit, with a track record in responsible credit scoring over the last years. We are fascinated by the current developments and opportunities in technology and data especially when applied to the financial services industry, transforming ourselves into a full FinTech operation.

Job Description

We are an AFM-licensed financial institution, offering credit propositions to consumers and rapidly transforming into a fintech operation, operating in a heavily regulated environment. As Tinka Legal Counsel you are responsible for assisting and advising Tinka in various legal matters. You are part of the department Legal & Regulatory Compliance and report to the Head of Legal & Regulatory Compliance.

This role requires a person with a pragmatic, yet critical,  “business” attitude, a clear focus of what's going on in the financial market  and with a clear legal compass. The Tinka Legal Counsel is capable of translating new legislative requirements into pragmatic solutions while steering Tinka within the legal guardrails.

Job Description
This role allows you to be close to the business and act as legal contact person for Tinka. You are closely involved in drafting and negotiating various commercial contracts, among others in the field of software, the processing of data and collection agencies. You will be involved as Legal Counsel in various larger projects within the organisation with the aim to further optimise Tinka.

You will also be a contact person for practical legal questions from the business, including questions on the Financial act (Wft) and consumer (credit) law as a whole, data privacy and AML (anti-money laundering). You will advise different stakeholders within the organisation.

You will be part of the Department Legal & Regulatory Compliance, currently consisting of 2 Regulatory Officers and the Head of Legal & Regulatory Compliance.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience, preferably gained at a law-firm or as in-house legal counsel
  • Experienced in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts
  • Good knowledge of Dutch Civil Code (mainly Book 3 & 6)
  • Knowledge of Financial act (Wft) and consumer (credit) law is a pré
  • Pragmatic teamplayer with a good business sense
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Enthusiastic and open, easy communicator, eager to learn (new legal areas)
  • Fluent in Dutch and English, orally and in writing
