Senior Marketing Strategist, Office of the Chief Brand Officer

  • Contract
  • Department: Marketing

Company Description

One of the world’s leading global financial institutions, this company operates at the intersection of banking, payments, and technology.

Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Marketing Strategist to support the Office of the Chief Brand Officer. This person will work in close partnership with the Chief of Staff & Head of Brand Strategy — serving as a peer-level collaborator on strategy, communications, and cross-functional project management across a 300+ person brand organization.

This is a high-visibility, high-impact contract for someone who is equally comfortable building an executive deck from scratch, tracking a KPI framework end-to-end, and driving a cross-functional workstream — all without a lot of oversight. You're not waiting to be told what to do. You're connecting the dots, chasing down answers, and moving work forward.

The right person for this role:

  • Has worked in or alongside a C-suite marketing or brand leader — you understand how executives think and what they need
  • Builds polished, executive-ready presentations and documents with speed and precision
  • Treats project management as a discipline — timelines, milestones, blockers, dependencies, all tracked
  • Is hands-on keyboard and unafraid of the 'grunt work' — this is a doer role, not a director role
  • Knows how to navigate a large, matrixed organization with confidence and good judgment
  • Handles confidential organizational information with absolute discretion

Location: New York City preferred. Open to Jersey City, NJ · Chicago, IL · Columbus, OH · Wilmington, DE
Contract Start: ASAP
Contract Term: 8 months with potential to extend
Working Hours: 40 hours/week, 5 days in-office presence required
Compensation: $80/hr

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategy & Performance Tracking

    • Partner with the Chief of Staff to translate Brand and Marketing priorities into initiatives, OKRs/KPIs, baselines, and targets
    • Synthesize performance data and research into decision-ready recommendations for senior leadership — everything substantiated and backed
  • Executive Storytelling & Communications

    • Co-develop executive narratives and briefing materials with the Chief of Staff
    • Build C-suite presentations including MBRs and leadership readouts
    • Prepare talking points and read-aheads for the Chief Brand Officer
    • Understand what goes up, across, and down — and craft each piece accordingly for its audience
  • Cross-Functional Project Management

    • Co-orchestrate workstreams across Brand, Product, Marketing, Lines of Business, and agency partners
    • Own multiple projects end-to-end with minimal oversight — managing timelines, interdependencies, risks, and milestone reporting
    • Track progress, escalate blockers, and deliver on time with consistently high quality
  • Organizational Effectiveness & Operations

    • Work with the Chief of Staff to identify bottlenecks and implement improvements
    • Institutionalize cadences, templates, and dashboards that streamline planning, approvals, and measurement across the Brand org
  • Stakeholder Partnership & Executive Readiness

    • Serve alongside the Chief of Staff as a conduit between the CBO, internal teams, and external partners
    • Build trusted relationships, anticipate issues, and drive timely decisions
    • Prepare high-quality materials to ensure the CBO is fully ready for speaking engagements, boards, and leadership forums
  • Brand Org Communications & Town Halls

    • Co-own planning and content for Brand org communications in partnership with the Chief of Staff
    • Shape agendas and develop executive-ready materials for org-wide town halls and BURs
    • Design communication flows to CBO direct reports — briefing notes, action summaries, and read-outs — that drive clarity, alignment, and follow-through

Qualifications

Must-Haves

  • Proven ability to build executive-quality presentations, strategy briefs, and documents from ambiguous, fast-moving inputs — this is the #1 skill
  • Experience defining, tracking, and synthesizing OKRs/KPIs into leadership-ready reporting
  • Strong cross-functional project management skills — able to juggle multiple workstreams without losing momentum
  • Background in corporate strategy, management consulting, Chief of Staff support, or a COO/ops-adjacent function
  • Experience working in or alongside large, matrixed organizations
  • High discretion and sound judgment when handling sensitive or confidential organizational information
  • Self-starter with high initiative — proactively moves work forward without waiting to be directed

Nice to Have

  • Financial services or regulated industry experience
  • Familiarity with marketing and brand organizations
  • Experience supporting a CMO, CBO, or senior marketing executive directly

The ideal candidate has worked in a corporate strategy, management consulting, or COO/Chief of Staff-adjacent role — someone who understands how executives think and can translate that into polished, actionable materials. They have the presence and credibility to represent the team in cross-functional settings, the analytical chops to back recommendations in data, and the hustle to do the footwork themselves. Not too senior to get their hands dirty — this person runs toward the work.
