Job Description
The Infrastructure Engineer plays a key role in ensuring Waste Management’s IT infrastructure is reliable, secure, and highly available. The role works across Microsoft, cloud, network, and infrastructure technologies, supporting both day-to-day operations and key Digital Solutions initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support and maintain Microsoft 365, Azure, cloud, server, and network environments.
- Provide Level 2 infrastructure support, troubleshooting and escalating priority issues where required.
- Monitor infrastructure performance and respond to alerts, faults, and service disruptions.
- Manage patching, upgrades, maintenance, and infrastructure lifecycle activities.
- Support technology projects and the Digital Solutions roadmap.
- Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and Disaster Recovery plans.
- Conduct Disaster Recovery testing and support business continuity readiness.
- Work with vendors and technology partners to resolve issues and deliver improvements.
- Ensure infrastructure services align with Waste Management’s cyber security standards and best practices.
- Identify opportunities to improve resilience, automation, performance, and efficiency.
Qualifications
What you’ll need:
- Good understanding of IT project management methodologies and delivery practices.
- Knowledge of ITIL practices and experience using ServiceNow or a similar IT Service Management platform.
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, business systems, and operational processes.
- Experience with Cisco and Meraki networking technologies, including VPNs, switching, routing, and wireless.
- Experience supporting Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Azure/cloud platforms, and Citrix environments.
- Relevant industry certifications such as CCNA, Microsoft Azure/Microsoft certifications, or VMware VCP would be advantageous.
- A tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical industry experience.
