The role you’ll play. 

When you join our Workshop team you are joining a team that takes pride in what they do!

Based at our workshop in East Tamaki, the role is responsible for our in-house preventative maintenance and repairs of all types of bins and associated equipment.

Are you a hands‑on, reliable team player who takes pride in keeping operations running smoothly? We’re looking for a dedicated Welder/ Bin Maintainer to join our busy yard team and support the day‑to‑day operation of our waste management facility.

Key responsibilities.

  • You will be setting up and operating hand tools, including but not limited to gas/ plasma cutting, drills and grinders, along with requisitioning or repairing parts and associated consumables.
  • You will work closely with the Supervisor/Manager to requisition repair parts and consumables, ensuring the cost‑effective use of materials within budget.
  • As your experience develops, you may also undertake general maintenance on WM fleet vehicles and compactors.
  • This is a fast‑paced role that requires initiative, strong time‑management skills, and the ability to respond quickly to breakdowns and spills, minimising downtime.
  • You will be responsible for maintaining accurate paperwork, keeping the workshop area and yard clean and organised, and upholding a professional image of the company at all times.

Qualifications

What you’ll need. 

We are looking for someone with experience in MIG welding and fabrication and has used a range of engineering hand and power tools. If you hold the qualification in Welding to AS/NZS 2980 that would be a strong advantage but not essential.  

  • Strong health & safety attitude is key.
  • Hold a Full Class 1 New Zealand driver’s licence.
  • Basic computer experience would be great,
  • Ability to work in a team but equally on your own
  • Excellent time management.
