The role you’ll play.

We have an exceptional opportunity for a commercially focused and experienced Branch Manager to lead our operations at the Redvale Landfill in Dairy Flat.

Reporting to the Redvale Regional Manager, you will lead a team of approximately 35 employees, as well as multiple contractors. You will have the backing of an experienced regional leadership team and our wider corporate services teams while retaining genuine ownership of the site’s day to day performance.

This is a highly influential leadership role with responsibility for the operational, environmental and financial performance of one of WM’s critical business units.

You will provide visible leadership across the site, set clear expectations and create an environment where safety, accountability, compliance and continuous improvement are embedded in everything we do.

Qualifications

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Championing a strong, proactive health and safety culture.
  • Ensuring full compliance with environmental requirements, resource consents and regulatory obligations.
  • Leading, developing and engaging operational employees and contractors.
  • Overseeing day to day site operations and plant maintenance.
  • Managing budgets and delivering agreed operational and financial targets.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve performance, efficiency and sustainable growth.
  • Building trusted relationships with customers, community representatives, regulators and other key stakeholders.
  • Confidently representing WM in public, community and regulatory settings.

 

What you’ll need.

You will be a credible and confident operational leader who combines strong commercial judgement with a commitment to safety and environmental responsibility.

 

  • A relevant civil engineering and/or environmental management qualification is preffered, supported by practical industry experience.
  • Proven leadership experience within a complex operational environment.
  • Experience managing significant civil works, ideally within a highly regulated setting.
  • Strong knowledge of consent management, environmental obligations and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience leading operational teams and managing multiple contractors.
  • A demonstrated ability to build constructive relationships with customers, communities, regulators and other stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
  • The commercial capability to interpret and influence P&L performance.
  • A strategic mindset, with the ability to identify and deliver opportunities for improvement and growth.
