Job Description
WMNZ is seeking an experienced and safety‑focused Gas Technician – Field at Whitford Landfill and Energy Park to support landfill gas operations, ensuring a continuous supply of high‑quality gas for power generation and odour control. This role is critical to maintaining the performance and integrity of the gas well field through effective balancing, monitoring, and maintenance activities, while preventing air ingress and ensuring compliance with all WM New Zealand policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair landfill gas field pipework.
- Install and maintain leachate pipework and associated infrastructure.
- Carry out field gas monitoring at wellheads and make adjustments as required.
- Undertake surface emissions monitoring and complete accurate reporting.
- Operate gas generators and flares in accordance with operational and safety requirements.
- Identify and safely repair gas leaks in a timely and efficient manner.
- Complete all required documentation and promptly report any faults relating to equipment, leachate systems, or pipework to the line manager.
- Comply with all company policies, procedures, administrative requirements, and financial business rules.
- Maintain a high standard of professional conduct, personal presentation, and company representation.
- Actively contribute to continuous improvement by reviewing and enhancing tasks, processes, and service quality.
On‑Call Requirements
This role includes participation in a Monday to Friday, after hours, call‑out roster (1 in 4).
Qualifications
Benificial knowledge:
- Gas monitoring equipment knowledge.
- Experience in operation of treatment or processing plants.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
- Positive attitude
