About the role

We are seeking a Gas Technician to support the safe and efficient operation of landfill gas and leachate systems. Reporting to line management, you will help execute operational plans by monitoring, maintaining, and improving landfill infrastructure to ensure environmental compliance and operational performance.

This is a hands-on field-based role requiring strong technical capability, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute operational plans in line with business strategy, ensuring optimal cost, quality, and timeframes.
• Monitor and record landfill leachate levels to ensure effective destruction and treatment.
• Install, maintain, and repair gas field pipework and leachate pipe systems.
• Conduct field gas monitoring at well heads and adjust systems as required.
• Carry out FID monitoring, reporting, and system checks.
• Operate LEU and flare systems safely and efficiently.
• Complete required documentation and promptly report faults or issues with equipment, leachate, or pipework.
• Investigate and report customer complaints in line with company procedures.
• Maintain high standards of professional conduct, personal presentation, and company image.
• Identify opportunities to review, improve, and continuously enhance service quality.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and business rules.

Qualifications

About you

You’re practical, reliable, and technically capable, with experience working in operational or industrial environments. You take pride in doing the job right, understand the importance of compliance, and are comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.

You’ll bring:
• Basic IT skills.
• Knowledge of gas monitoring equipment.
• Certified Mechanic qualification or equivalent trade experience.
• Experience with plastic pipe welding and pipe installation.
• Experience operating treatment or processing plants.
• A full, valid New Zealand driver’s licence.
• The ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a team environment.
