Job Description

We’re looking for an experienced Workshop Supervisor to join our Christchurch team. In this role, you’ll play a vital part in keeping our fleet of over 100 trucks running safely and efficiently. Your work will directly support our essential services and ensure our vehicles remain reliable on the road.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of workshop staff, including technicians, fitters, welders, and apprentices.
  •  Maintain fleet and equipment availability to standards that deliver required levels of customer service
    and asset utilisation.
  • Plan, prioritize, and assign tasks to ensure timely completion of work orders and projects.
  • Build a strong constructive working relationship between functions within the maintenance team and 
    across other functions within the business (Operations, Sales, Finance, technical, IT etc)
  • Maintain agreed inventory of parts for prompt and effective turnaround of repairs.
  • Work with Operations Supervisors to plan vehicle maintenance
  • Manage service agreements with external service providers and oversee day to day service delivery.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance and repairs in job sheets and the in-cab Vehicle History File
  • Manage workflow through the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Actively look for innovative ways to improve the effectiveness of the maintenance function.

Qualifications

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Significant technical experience in Repairs and Management of vehicles
  • Experience of Fleet Maintenance Planning systems and CMMS.
  • A Class 4 Driver’s Licence (advantageous but not essential)
  • Intermediate computer skills including MS Office Suite.
  • Leadership/management qualification desirable.
  • Verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Good people management skills. 
  • Knowledge of local and national transport industry regulations desirable.
  • Experience managing supplier relationships.
