Licensed Low Voltage Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Low Voltage Technician to join our team at Walmart. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of our low voltage systems. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellence, integrity, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Address customer inquiries and concerns professionally and efficiently   
  • Ensure all installations and repairs adhere to local, state, and federal regulations   
  • Follow all safety guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment  
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of installations, maintenance, and repairs   
  • Evaluate existing systems to determine if upgrades or enhancements are needed   
  • Perform system upgrades to improve performance or comply with new standards   
  • Work closely with other technicians, engineers, and project managers to ensure successful project completion  
  • Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and provide appropriate solutions  
  • Stay abreast of the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices   

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Must hold the state and jurisdiction-required license or certification for low voltage or fire alarm work in the state of employment.
  • Examples include:
    • Fire Alarm Technician License
    • Residential Fire Alarm Superintendent II
    • Fire Alarm Planning Superintendent
    • Licensing requirements vary by state; verify through the State Fire Marshal’s Office or State Electrical Licensing Board.
    • NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level II (FAS II) or ESA (Electronic Security Association) Level II Fire Alarm Technician certification.
      • Equivalent or higher-level certifications may be accepted depending on state regulations.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1–3 years of hands-on experience installing, maintaining, or troubleshooting low voltage or fire alarm systems.
  • Experience reading blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Hands-on experience using hand tools, power tools, and electronic testing equipment.
  • Knowledge of applicable electrical codes and standards, including the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local amendments.
  • Field experience installing, troubleshooting, or maintaining one or more of the following systems:
    • Fire alarm systems
    • Access control and CCTV
    • Structured cabling and communications networks
    • Building automation or A/V systems

Preffered:

  • BICSI Installer Certification (Level 1 or 2)
  • CompTIA Network+ or equivalent networking certification
  • Manufacturer-specific certifications (e.g., Honeywell, Axis, Bosch, Lenel, or similar)
  • NICET Level III or IV Fire Alarm Systems certification
  • OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour Construction or General Industry safety training
  • Technical training or schooling in electronics, networking, or low voltage systems
