Scope/Job Objective:

 

To act as the technical authority and main interface for Door system within the service business, ensuring customer satisfaction and operational quality/reliability by providing expert engineering support, managing technical documentation, and driving seamless integration between service projects and original equipment engineering. Shall ensure compliance with technical requirements, the development budget, the project schedule, and the quality of the development.

 

While the scope primary focus on the Door system, this may evolve and broaden to further commodities like Brakes , Power Collection, Coupler, HVAC, Doors and Other after-market new products /Solutions.

 

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

 

1. Customer Interface & Support:

   Serve as the technical contact for customers and internal stakeholders, providing timely resolution of issues, safety cases, and hot issues resolution.

2. Feasibility & Assessment:

·Conduct fleet assessments and feasibility studies for custom engineering requests to support decision-making and project planning.

·Undertakes frequent travel, executes Application Studies & Engagements to understand the Requirements, Pain points, Voice of the Customer and New Business Opportunities.

· Undertakes Competition Products Survey & Field Studies on NPIs/ existing products, Product Tear downs, Product & LCC offering.

3. Technical Translation & Documentation:

Convert customer requirements into precise engineering specifications and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including BOMs, interface definitions, and integration plans.

4. Lifecycle Management:

Manage spare parts and documentation (Drawings ,BOM) updates to address obsolescence and support standard overhaul and upgrade activities.

5. Project & Tender Support:

Contribute system expertise to technical Engineering Design reviews, customer meetings, and tender preparation, ensuring accurate and competitive technical offers & non-recurring costs for Products and Solutions.

6. Project Execution:

·       Ensures that developed products comply with customer requirements, while meeting the quality, cost, and schedule constraints defined by project management.

  • Leads the daily activities of the Engineering Design project by following & implementing all applicable Transit engineering processes, tracking Open action items, WBS, Design Gate reviews, workload planning, requirements compliance, etc.
  • Prepares and delivers monthly technical and budgetary project reports to the Engineering Manager. 

7. Onsite Service Support:

Provide hands-on technical assistance for repairs, overhauls, and upgrades during service execution.

Identifies, together with the OE engineering team, the root causes of technical issues; develops, validates, and ensures execution of action plans to resolve technical problems.

8. Cross-Functional Coordination

Bridge communication between service project teams and OE engineering departments to ensure alignment and on-time delivery (OTD) of technical deliverables.

   

Qualifications and Skills:

 

·       Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.

·       Minimum 10 years hands-on experience with Door systems & Controls (design, maintenance, or service) from Rolling Stock /Automotive /Doors System Supplier.

·       Excellent Project management skills & driving Team in projects.

·       Knowledge of the competition - products , Solutions in terms of Door system solutions

·       Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems for spare parts and BOM updates.

·       Obsolescence and lifecycle management principles.

·       Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.

·       Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking.

·       Ability to work cross-functionally with project teams and OE engineering.

·       Time management and prioritization under pressure.

·       Adaptability for onsite support and travel when required.
