How will you make a difference?
The Maintenance Operations Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating locomotive running maintenance activities to ensure fleet availability, reliability, and operational efficiency. This role provides technical leadership to maintenance teams, oversees both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and ensures compliance with safety, quality, and contractual requirements. The position works closely with operations, customers, and global technical teams to implement best practices, new technologies, and effective maintenance strategies.
What will your typical day look like?
- Provide technical expertise to railroad employees and management as well as Wabtec employees, including troubleshooting, material handling, tooling, safety procedures, and contract requirement clarification
- Leading the Running maintenance activities according to the time schedule
- Working with global team to apply and use the new technology in running activities and trainings
- Using the integration systems in managing services in Wabtec workshop
- Leading the unscheduled activities, working to increase the availabilities of the fleet
- Leading different unscheduled repairs of locomotives components such as Motors, Alternators, Blower, Electric compressors, HVAC units
- Leading the installation/repairing /replacement of the diesel engines components
- Making good communication with operation team, and working with them to define the daily plan of the maintenance scope
- Leading the activities day by day, working closing to the technicians
- Provide training / mentorship to Maintenance team/ Wabtec employees
- Coordinate and provide instruction on key programs and procedures
- Provide clear communication to customer employees, customer management and management on work to be performed, equipment status, productivity, and process improvements, and liaison with other departments as necessary
- Work with Maintenance team and management to promote, maintain, and drive continuous improvement in safe work practices while monitoring productivity, quality assurance, and adherence to contract requirements
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, OSHA work practices, and industry / site specific work rules
- Make risk assessments balancing customer requests with Wabtec requirements
- Establish production plan for labor, material, and logistics
- Work with various software systems to manage material, labor plans, and other systemic requirements
What do we want to know about you?
- Bachelors’ Degree in a Technical discipline from an accredited College or University
- Minimum of +7 years of maintenance Operations
- Experience with heavy equipment maintenance such as compressors, diesel engines, electric parts such as motors, alternators, blowers
- Experience with conducting the scheduled and breakdown maintenance
- Good experience with NBI integration system
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Demonstrated success in a customer facing role
- Validated analytical and quality improvement ability
- Ability to interface at all levels of the organization, both internally and externally
- The ability to maintain reliable and predictable attendance
- A high level of dependability, a great attitude, and an ability to work well with a team towards achieving a common goal
