Job Description
Position Title: Sourcing Co-Ordinator
Reporting To: Sourcing Manager, Wabtec SA
Reporting Relationship: This position does not have direct reports.
Primary Purpose of Role: Position will serve as the local owner for sourcing for the supply of locally manufactured components into our manufacturing and customer service businesses. These responsibilities include the development, communication, and execution of strategies to ensure realization of the business objectives for project, which includes the Cost of Bill of Materials, Target Costing, Should-Be Costing activities, identifying suppliers and supporting planning of incoming materials. Grow the localization activities for steel fabrications, castings, machining, pneumatic parts tied to contract requirements.
Primary Objectives:
- Localize the manufacturing of fabricated, machined and C-Class parts
- Assist with the development & execution of our local and international sourcing strategies. This includes supplier selection, development, and supplier consolidation to ensure sourcing optimization and overall supplier performance.
- Responsible for sourcing execution for assigned commodity(s) or suppliers, including full accountability for buy and meeting deflation targets.
- Vendor Sourcing activities: conduct supplier audits and perform supplier risk management techniques as and when required
- Conduct customer site visits as the need arise.
- Communicate compliance and quality control standards to vendors by Obtaining site audit documentation, certifications, quotes, pre-production samples (first articles)
- Market analysis support to Sourcing Manager: Prepare, consolidate, adjudicate and prepare recommendations (administrative tasks) in according to the scope requirements of the RFQ and tender processes against various suppliers
- Performing detailed cost analysis of components & manufacturing processes used by our suppliers to ensure highest quality at the lowest cost solution.
- Monitoring supplier quality and delivery performance and developing improvement strategies to ensure business needs are met.
- Partnering with key business stakeholders to ensure sourced material and services meet the needs of the business.
- Driving improvements in sourcing processes including escalations due to delivery/quality issues, invoicing/payables issues, and database management.
- Capture the local content and configuration for manufactured items
- Liaise with Company engineers, SQE’s to guide suppliers to maintain the product requirements.
- Ability to negotiate contracts and amend old contracts.
- Works with Material Planner/ Assistant to ensure alignment in forecast vs site/ customer production requirements
- Maintain Material Master for Validated / Approved items to correct Sources of Supply in collaboration with the Planning Department.
- Perform Monthly supplier scorecard in according to the Service level agreement KPI
Qualifications
Formal Education/Training
- National Diploma in Supply Chain Management/Logistics
- Trade Tested Artisan (Mechanical/Electrical) Advantageous
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, with exposure to technical manufacturing drawings
- Knowledge of Strategic Sourcing principles
Essential work skills
- 2 – 3 years of Strategic Sourcing experience
- Excellent negotiations skills and analytical skills with the ability to manage and develop supplier relationships
- Ability to build rapport at all levels within an organization
- Proven ability to execute and deliver on commitments
- Experience implementing a compliant supply chain
- Contract Management
- Conversant with BBBEE Legislation especially Enterprise and Supplier Development
- Supplier health analysis (Capacity, financial, risk)
- Foundry, Fabrication and Machining, pneumatic parts buy is an added pre-requisite
- Experience with Oracle or comparable MRP/ERP systems preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft word, Power Point and Excel
- Valid drivers’ licence
