Job Description
This is an on-site position based in Contagem, Minas Gerais, Brazil, with an expectation of working on-site five days per week.
Who will you be working with?
You will be part of the Application Excellence team within the Digital Technology organization, supporting the LATAM Localization application portfolio. This role works closely with Product Owners, business stakeholders across Latin America, infrastructure teams, cybersecurity teams, and external vendors to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable business solutions.
How will you make a difference?
As a member of the Application Excellence team, you will be responsible for developing, supporting, maintaining, and continuously improving Wabtec LATAM Localization applications and related system integrations. This role combines software engineering, cloud technologies, production support, infrastructure automation, and operational excellence to ensure critical business applications remain reliable and aligned with business needs.
You will serve as the primary technical owner for the LATAM Localization application portfolio, providing technical leadership, supporting product roadmap discussions, guiding architectural decisions, and mentoring team members. The role requires close collaboration with Product Owners and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technology solutions that contribute to Wabtec’s digital transformation strategy across Latin America.
What do we want to know about you?
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related field.
- Experience in software development and application support.
- Strong experience with Node.js, Angular, TypeScript/JavaScript, and SQL Server.
- Experience designing, developing, and maintaining RESTful APIs and GraphQL services.
- Experience developing responsive web applications using modern UI technologies and CSS frameworks.
- Solid knowledge of relational database design, query optimization, and performance tuning.
- Experience implementing automated testing solutions using tools such as Jest or Vitest.
- Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and integrations.
- Experience managing infrastructure as code using Terraform.
- Experience with configuration management and orchestration tools, preferably Chef.
- Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Experience with Datadog monitoring and application observability tools.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience supporting production environments and resolving critical application issues.
- Working knowledge of software security standards, vulnerability management, and compliance requirements.
- Experience in manufacturing or industrial environments preferred.
- Familiarity with ERP platforms such as Oracle ERP, Epicor, or SAP preferred.
- Previous experience in the rail industry is a plus.
- Fluent English.
What will your typical day look like?
- Serve as the primary technical owner for Wabtec LATAM Localization applications, ensuring reliability, scalability, and alignment with business objectives.
- Partner with Product Owners to evaluate requirements, provide technical recommendations, estimate development efforts, and support roadmap planning activities.
- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain full-stack applications and integrations using modern software engineering practices.
- Lead technical discussions and architecture reviews to ensure solutions meet business needs and enterprise standards.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting and escalation support for critical production incidents and application issues.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, cybersecurity, business, and external vendor teams to resolve complex technical challenges.
- Manage and support cloud-based solutions, infrastructure automation, monitoring, and CI/CD processes.
- Identify and implement opportunities for modernization, automation, simplification, and technical debt reduction.
- Mentor new team members and contribute to knowledge sharing, technical documentation, and engineering best practices.
- Promote software quality through code reviews, automated testing, monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Availability to travel to local and global sites (approximately 10%).
